About the Role
We are looking for a Mid-Level QA Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team and contribute to the quality of backend services, APIs, integrations, internal tools, and platform capabilities.
This role is focused on someone who already has solid QA fundamentals and backend testing experience, and who can operate with growing autonomy within an agile team. You will participate throughout the development lifecycle, from requirements refinement to release validation, helping the team identify risks, define test scenarios, automate high-value tests, and ensure reliable delivery of platform solutions.
You will work closely with backend engineers, product managers, and other QA professionals to support quality practices, improve test coverage, and contribute to continuous improvement across the team.

What You’ll Do

  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as refinement, planning, daily meetings, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Support quality from the requirements phase by contributing to shift-left validation practices.
  • Analyze requirements and break them down into test scenarios with clear coverage of main flows and common edge cases.
  • Support the definition of clear, testable acceptance criteria for backend services, APIs, integrations, and platform features.
  • Design, execute, and maintain functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and API tests.
  • Create and maintain automated tests for stable and high-value backend scenarios.
  • Execute automated tests and maintain existing scripts following established patterns and guidelines.
  • Validate service behavior, API contracts, error handling, logs, data consistency, and backend workflows.
  • Identify, log, and track defects clearly and objectively, including steps, evidence, impact, and priority.
  • Monitor test execution results and contribute to quality reporting and visibility.
  • Organize testing activities based on sprint priorities and communicate risks when scope, time, or quality is impacted.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve quality concerns early.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and suggest preventive improvements when relevant.
  • Follow established QA processes and contribute to their continuous improvement.
  • Share knowledge, testing practices, and feedback with junior QAs and team members.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience as a QA Engineer, preferably in backend, platform, or technical product teams.
  • Strong experience testing APIs, services, integrations, and backend workflows.
  • Experience creating and executing automated API/backend tests.
  • Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals, including functional, regression, exploratory, integration, and acceptance testing.
  • Ability to break requirements into test scenarios and identify main flows, edge cases, and quality risks.
  • Good understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, status codes, authentication, request/response validation, and API contracts.
  • Intermediate knowledge of database validation, debugging, and log analysis.
  • Experience using test management and bug tracking tools such as Jira, Zephyr, or similar.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution in delivery workflows.
  • Ability to work in agile environments using Scrum, Kanban, or similar methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders.
  • Organized, proactive, accountable, and comfortable managing assigned testing activities within agreed deadlines.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with contract testing, performance testing, reliability testing, or security testing fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of cloud environments, containers, Kubernetes, or infrastructure concepts.
  • Experience testing distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or asynchronous workflows.
  • Experience with observability tools, including logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, or monitoring platforms.
  • Experience contributing to release decisions with risk awareness.
  • Ability to support RCA and suggest preventive improvements.
  • Experience mentoring junior QAs or sharing QA best practices with developers.
  • Intermediate English communication skills, written and spoken.

More About You

  • You understand that quality starts early in the development lifecycle.
  • You are comfortable working close to backend engineers and discussing technical behavior.
  • You are analytical, curious, and able to investigate issues using logs, data, and system evidence.
  • You communicate risks clearly and proactively.
  • You balance autonomy with collaboration, asking for guidance when scenarios are complex.
  • You care about maintainable automation and practical test coverage.
  • You continuously look for ways to improve QA practices, team processes, and delivery quality.
