Services & Commissioning Manager

A Snapshot 

As the Services & Commissioning Manager, based in our Tokyo HQ (Roppongi Hills) you will be reporting to our Senior Services and Commissioning Manager, based in the same location, you will work closely with our development team, making an impact in a number of ways: 

• Commissioning lead on numerous projects in Japan managing through to successful completion and handing over to the operations team and customers 
• Working closely with internal and external teams including general contractors, suppliers, commissioning agents and customers to meet all AirTrunk requirements within the testing and handover process 
• Collaborating with AirTrunk's APAC development and design teams to drive the safety and quality standards and global benchmarking to meet AirTrunk requirements across Japanese projects. 

***This role is predominantly based in our data centres in Tokyo, but the role will require you to travel to Osaka and overseas, occasionally*** 

Your Day to Day 

• Manage the commissioning and handover process for AirTrunk's new data centers in Tokyo (support in other regions may be required) 
• Provide leadership support and guidance to commissioning and construction teams to manage risks and ensure project requirements are executed safely and to AirTrunk quality requirements.  
• Oversee and manage numerous projects at different stages at any one time and provide leadership to Commissioning Managers assigned to the project(s) 
• Ensure all commissioning procedures follow required safety and environmental policies and practices.  
• Drive consultant, general contractor, supplier and commissioning agent activities prior to and during commissioning to enable efficient and successful handover.  
• Coordinate and resolve technical issues leading up to and during commissioning. 
• Engage with internal and external parties and report to management on the status of commissioning activities. 
• Drive and witness successful factory testing of MEP equipment. 
• Attend regular design and commissioning meetings to ensure AirTrunk standards and procedures are maintained; attend construction meetings as required. 
• Establish and coordinate the commissioning schedule with general contractor, vendors, contractors, and commissioning agent to ensure completion prior to RFS dates.  
• Review the MEP, DCS, ICT, security and other services designs for compliance to AirTrunk’s requirements, enabling efficient and successful completion and commissioning, and overseeing collaborator document control for these specialist areas.  
• Oversee contractor commissioning defect management process and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) 
• Coordinate commissioning activities with AirTrunk operations teams and ensure submissions of MOPS, O&M manuals and timely training to AirTrunk’s requirements. 

Requirements 

• 5+ years' experience as a Commissioning Manager in general contractor or commissioning agent role leading a successful handover of complex (ideally data center) projects 
• Experience collaborating with MEP suppliers, contractors, and commissioning agents within the APAC market 
• Fluency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken) 
• Incredibly flexible and adaptable to a dynamic fast-paced, collaborative environment 
• Willing to make decisions and be accountable for them 
• Excel at communication with the ability to deliver effective presentations on data center design and commissioning strategies to customers, peers and management 
• Strong leadership ability in leading multi-disciplinary teams across multiple geographies
