Compensation: $150,000 – $170,000 annually, based on experience

Alpha Inc. is looking for a seasoned and strategic Civil Superintendent to lead field execution across major civil construction projects. In this high-impact leadership role, you'll be the critical link between project planning and field delivery—working alongside Project Managers and Foremen to ensure every job is executed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

You’ll be responsible for building and managing high-performing teams, driving operational excellence, and ensuring alignment between site work and company goals. The ideal candidate has a sharp operational mind, a proactive leadership style, and a commitment to fostering a strong safety culture and crew development.

What You Will Do

Drive Field Leadership & Performance

  • Plan and oversee all phases of civil construction projects, from initiation to completion.

  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Foremen to coordinate day-to-day site operations.

  • Build, manage, and train high-performing field crews, assigning tasks based on skill sets.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage hiring, training, and disciplinary actions for direct reports.

Ensure Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce Alpha Inc.'s safety policies and conduct on-site safety training.

  • Monitor quality control measures to ensure all work meets company standards.

  • Conduct regular inspections and enforce the proper use of tools, machinery, and PPE.

  • Maintain a clean, compliant, and hazard-free work environment.

Project Oversight & Execution

  • Develop and manage work schedules aligned with project timelines and crew availability.

  • Adjust plans proactively for weather, delays, or unforeseen challenges.

  • Manage project budgets, approve and negotiate change orders, and ensure financial targets are met.

  • Lead conflict resolution and act as the main liaison between field teams and stakeholders.

  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints; communicate plans clearly to crews.

  • Organize and lead regular project meetings to report progress and resolve challenges.

What You Bring

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction.

  • Proven leadership in managing crews, project schedules, budgets, and client relationships.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Mac-based platforms.

  • Experience with HCSS, Adobe Acrobat, or Heavy Job preferred.

  • Strong blueprint reading and technical communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make clear decisions under pressure.

  • Associates degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience working in Hawai‘i or on remote island projects.

  • Deep knowledge of heavy equipment, underground utilities, grading, and roadwork.

  • Strong background in safety leadership and team mentorship.

  • Familiarity with project tracking tools and field reporting systems.
