
Senior Cisco Wireless Engineer (L3 / Escalation)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Cisco Wireless Engineer to serve as the final escalation point (L3/T3) for enterprise wireless issues in a large, global Cisco environment. This role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, incident ownership, and wireless optimization, working closely with L2 engineers, network teams, and global stakeholders during US business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as L3/T3 escalation for complex wireless issues across multiple enterprise sites
- Own high-severity (P1/P2) wireless incidents end-to-end, including participation in incident bridges
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to:

Wireless LAN Controllers (Cisco 9800, AireOS, or equivalent)

Enterprise Access Points

Client connectivity, roaming, RF, and performance issues

- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring or high-impact wireless incidents
- Support large-scale AP deployments, upgrades, and migrations
- Partner with L2 engineers to guide troubleshooting and improve resolution quality
- Work with ServiceNow for incident, change, and problem management
- Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides
- Collaborate with global network, security, and operations teams
- Contribute to wireless standards, best practices, and optimization initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience supporting enterprise wireless networks in production environments
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with Cisco Wireless or equivalent enterprise WLAN solutions
- Solid understanding of 802.11 standards (a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and RF fundamentals
- Experience troubleshooting client connectivity, roaming, authentication, and performance issues
- Strong foundation in TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and routing fundamentals
- Experience working in ITIL-based operations (incident, change, and problem management)
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of issues during US Eastern Time hours
- Strong communication skills for working on incident bridges and with global teams
Preferred / Nice to Have (Not Mandatory)
- Experience with Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers
- Exposure to Cisco DNA Center or Prime Infrastructure
- Experience with AireOS to 9800 migrations
- Wireless site survey or RF optimization tools (Ekahau, AirMagnet, etc.)
- Experience supporting large campus, manufacturing, or multi-site enterprise environments
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CWNA (optional)
