In this role
You will lead the customer-facing deprecation of a legacy data connector/service. You’ll own proactive communications, coordinate issue management, and drive compliant migration paths by analyzing tenant-level usage and aligning alternatives across product/workload teams. You’ll build lightweight dashboards to track progress and risks, keep messaging consistent, and prevent bespoke/private APIs—ensuring a unified, scalable transition for enterprise customers.
Responsibilities
-
Plan and run the end-to-end deprecation program: milestones, risks, status, and executive readouts.
-
Lead customer communications for strategic tenants: sequence outreach, gather feedback, and “soft-land” the change.
-
Own customer notification strategy (e.g., customer portal/message center equivalents) with ≥6-month notice and clear CTAs.
-
Serve as first-line triage for FAQs/issues; route and track escalations to resolution with defined SLAs.
-
Analyze tenant-specific usage and pipelines to recommend migration paths by dataset/workload (files, collaboration, mail, identity, etc.).
-
Align with product/workload owners to document supported alternatives (public APIs, in-product exports, premium/paid APIs).
-
Enforce deprecation policy compliance across Privacy, Legal, Compliance, and Security requirements for third-party-facing features.
-
Document and operationalize the deprecation workflow: auditing, data governance, evidence collection, and migration commitments.
-
Coordinate partner/internal teams (analytics platforms, app frameworks, work management, employee-experience tools) to avoid one-off/private APIs.
-
Build and maintain basic Power BI (or equivalent) dashboards to track adoption, migration progress, risks, and gaps.
-
Maintain a single source of truth for messaging, FAQs, runbooks, and customer status; prevent fragmented guidance.
-
Report measurable status to leadership: coverage %, tenant risk tiers, top blocking issues, ETA to completion.
Qualifications (Required)
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
-
Experience running technical deprecations, migrations, or large change initiatives for enterprise customers.
-
Strong program/project management skills: planning, RAID management, dependency tracking, executive communication.
-
Ability to explain technical/data-engineering topics (APIs, data pipelines, identity/authorization) to non-technical audiences.
-
Hands-on with building and maintaining basic dashboards and reports (Power BI or similar).
-
Data analysis skills to identify usage patterns, trends, and gaps; comfort with queries and metrics definitions.
-
Proven stakeholder management across cross-functional product, engineering, privacy/compliance, and support teams.
-
Clear written/verbal communication: customer updates, FAQs, runbooks, decision logs, and status reporting.
-
Discipline to avoid bespoke/private API workarounds; ability to drive toward scalable, policy-compliant solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Prior ownership of a customer-facing service deprecation at enterprise scale (thousands of tenants or users).
-
Familiarity with public API governance, throttling/quotas, and migration to supported SDKs/endpoints.
-
Understanding of collaboration/file, messaging, directory/identity, and analytics workloads and their cross-domain dependencies.
-
Experience aligning multiple product/workload teams on a single migration playbook and customer comms plan.
-
Proficiency with Power BI data modeling (DAX/Power Query) or similar tooling; comfort defining KPIs and SLAs.
-
Exposure to privacy, compliance, and data-governance frameworks in regulated environments.
-
Certifications in project/change management (e.g., PMP, Scrum, Prosci) are a plus.
-
Ability to create concise executive briefs and customer-ready artifacts (FAQ, migration guides, decision matrices)
