What You’ll Do
The Senior Accountant is an integral part of a growing accounting team and oversees general ledger accounting close process (e.g., fixed assets, leases, G&A accruals, among others). This position is an individual contributor and currently reports to the Associate Director of Accounting. This position requires interaction with various business units and third-party contacts. A successful candidate is someone who enjoys working in a fast-pace and rapidly growing environment, pro-active, highly organize, results-oriented, analytical, strong attention to details, excellent communication skills, and highly motivated to always deliver excellence in their work.
Responsibilities
- Manage monthly closing of assigned general ledger (GL) accounts with emphases on, but not limited to, long-debt, royalty obligation, embedded derivative liability, software capitalization (ASC 350-40), and G&A prepayments and accruals, lease accounting (ASC 842) and fixed assets
- Prepare monthly accounting close workpapers and analyses for the assigned GL accounts to ensure accurate and timely recognition of expenses, prepayments and deposits, and accrual accounts
- Review contracts for new POs to ensure proper accounting for expenses, prepaids, and accruals
- Prepare journal entries and related supporting workpapers adhering to the quality and compliance requirements
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations for assigned accounts
- Prepare rollforward schedules and tie-out schedules for assigned 10Q/10K footnote disclosures, and other ad hoc requested schedules/analyses
- Prepare fluctuation analyses on assigned GL accounts
- Update amortization schedule for royalty obligations
- Update lease amortization schedules, as needed
- Discuss and liaise with key contacts in other business units to manage prepayment and accrual processes, including organizing meetings and resolving outstanding items
- Prepare audit and tax requested PBC schedules, confirmations and address follow up items
- Compliance with SOX requirements—ensure control procedures are executed and workpaper documentations are SOX compliant; prepare all required data and analysis to support external audit, internal control and SOX testing requests, among others
- Collaborate, liaise and assist other accounting team members, as needed
Where You’ll Work
This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration at least 1x per week, or as needed, in our San Francisco, CA office.
Who You Are
- Degree in accounting--CPA preferred
- 7+ years of relevant experience in a publicly traded company (combination of Big 4 or similar in SEC clients and industry experience) – highly preferred
- Biotech experience a plus
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong work ethic including sound judgement, outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
- Able to work with high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment
- Results and detailed-oriented mindset with an opportunistic eye towards process improvements
- Strong ability to prioritize and organize work effectively
- Must be able to collaborate and communicate (oral and written) effectively
- High sense of urgency and ability to identify creative solutions to advanced, time sensitive problems by balancing achievement of process objectives with practical considerations
- High degree of organizational agility, able to handle sensitive issues with prudent discretion across all levels of the organization
- Commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles and challenges in a time-sensitive environment
- Excellent project management. Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple work streams while remaining calm and effective under pressure

$100,000 - $135,000 USD
