Corporate Controller

Position Overview

The Corporate Controller is responsible for the corporate accounting, internal and external reporting, and corporate income and indirect taxes. The Corporate Controller will build and optimize the accounting, reporting and tax processes, manage change, lead projects and develop future managers to ensure that business strategies are understood and supported, accounting policies are implemented across the company, tax obligations are appropriately determined and paid, and employees are developed and utilized at their highest potential. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct all aspects of accounting operations, including timely and accurate general ledger accounting, accounts payable and payroll processing, month-end close and preparation of internal management financial reports
  • Lead the development and optimization of financial transaction processes to achieve world class levels of efficiency
  • Ensure records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and in compliance with other applicable rules and regulations
  • Complete insightful ad-hoc analysis in support of the organization’s growth
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance for all necessary accounting policies and procedures and review accounting practices to ensure GAAP compliance.
  • Participate in the strategic initiatives of the company – collaboration before, during and after deals, significant new contracts or other strategic actions by the company
  • Lead financial and accounting diligence and integration for M&A transactions and other corporate transactions
  • Lead tax structuring of M&A and corporate transactions, working with external tax advisors
  • Ensure appropriate metrics are in place to manage business risk and improve decision making; ensure strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard  and improve operations
  • Develop and maintain financial controls and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and/or other regulatory requirements as well as compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Draft and review bank financial statements and other reports and any applicable regulatory filings; review other filings
  • Ensure correct calculation of bank covenant calculations and help ensure compliance with covenants related to financial information and internal controls
  • Work with external auditors to coordinate and execute timely audits and reviews of external financial statements including statutory financial statements in foreign jurisdictions
  • Lead and resolve complex or qualitative accounting analysis including discussions with external auditors
  • Research technical accounting issues for new and proposed management initiatives and new accounting standards; document and present company’s position.
  • Prepare various financial analyses, including earnings and Audit Committee schedules, as well as information for stock-based compensation matters
  • Review corporate income and other tax filings and ensure appropriate accounting for income taxes
  • Establish a stand-alone corporate tax department and capability to the extent it is required
  • Review and approve rent and other corporate expenses for accuracy and senior executive approval
  • Manage the financial systems so as to successfully support all accounting and finance activities
  • Lead the requirements for Oracle and other accounting and inventory systems and ensure that the reported information accurately reflects the underlying inventory transactions
  • Provide mentoring and staff development in a high-growth environment

Education & Experience

  • BA Accounting or related degree required
  • CPA required
  • 20 + years of progressive experience in public accounting and corporate financial reporting
  • Previous experience as a controller is required, preferably with a high growth company

  • Excellent written communications skills and attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop a highly efficient and productive team focused on customer service and support
  • Ability to manage projects and timelines, even when you only have indirect influence
  • Quantitative and qualitative analytical problem solving skills
  • Strong time management skills, including ability to manage multiple activities
  • Current and extensive understanding of GAAP, SOX and SEC rules
  • Extensive knowledge of financial governance and compliance
  • Proven leadership skills and strong decision making capabilities

 

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided per CA SB 1162 (“CA Pay Transparency Law”). Base pay information is based on market location. Learn more about ecoATM benefits here.
