About the Role:

As a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer at Energy Exemplar, you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, scalability, and security of our global cloud & on-Premise infrastructure. You will work hands-on with Azure and AWS cloud services, automate operational tasks, monitor performance, respond to incidents, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless experience to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision, Maintain and optimize cloud infrastructure on Azure and AWS, including compute, storage, networking, and container services ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards.
  • Monitor system and network health through dashboards, alerts, and real-time metrics, proactively identifying anomalies and performance issues.
  • Serve as the first line of defense in the Network Operations Center (NOC), responding to alerts, managing incident escalation, and ensuring timely communication to stakeholders.
  • Support 24x7 operations through on-call rotation and liaison with geographically distributed teams, including triage, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of production incidents.
  • Build and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively detect and resolve issues.
  • Automate deployment, configuration, and management of infrastructure
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, backup configuration, and DR exercises.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance, uptime, and cost; implement optimizations where needed.
  • Enforce security policies, support audit readiness, and implement controls around IAM, encryption, patching, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Compliance, Security, and IT teams to support DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes.
  • Document operational procedures, playbooks, and infrastructure topology to ensure transparency and repeatability.
  • Work closely with Support, Product, and Customer Success to troubleshoot customer-impacting issues in staging and production environments.
  • Participate in change management, including review of cloud change requests, rollouts, and rollback planning.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the team, encouraging knowledge sharing and cross-training opportunities.

Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in cloud operations and automation experience.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Azure (preferred) and/or AWS, including services like VMs, storage, networking, and load balancing.
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools like Azure Monitor, CloudWatch
  • Knowledge of security and compliance practices in cloud (IAM, MFA, patching, encryption, logging).
  • Experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies & Tests.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Comfortable working in CI/CD environments and supporting deployment pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes and incident/change/problem management frameworks.
  • Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, and cost optimization, and implement proactive measures to address any issues or inefficiencies
  • Ensure adherence to Cloud Service Level SLAs.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with geographically distributed team, take ownership of problems, and drive them to resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure or AWS certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, AWS SysOps, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting clous hosted platforms in production.
  • Understanding of data residency, privacy, and compliance concerns in cloud environments.
