About the Role
We seek a Senior Product Manager to lead our centralized data team, comprising two specialized squads: Analytics Engineering and Data Infrastructure. In this role, you will define the strategy, set objectives, and oversee the execution of initiatives to create and maintain well-governed data marts, ensure efficient management of our data infrastructure, and drive strategic investments in the modern data and ML stack.
You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across business, analytics, and engineering functions to align data products with organizational priorities. The ideal candidate should have a strong planning, prioritization, and OKR management background, experience with the modern data stack, and a passion for leveraging data and AI/ML to create impact.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Planning and Strategy:
- Roadmap Development: Define and maintain the short-term and long-term roadmap for the data team, ensuring alignment with business goals and evolving organizational priorities.
- Prioritization: Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize features and improvements based on business impact, technical feasibility, and user feedback.
- OKR Management: Define and track Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for the BI and Infrastructure squads to measure success and progress.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Act as the primary interface between the data team and technical/non-technical stakeholders (internal and external).
- Translate business requirements into actionable technical roadmaps and data product enhancements.
- Gather feedback and manage product roadmap to ensure data products meet evolving stakeholder needs.
- Strategic Data Management:
- Oversee the creation of well-governed data marts and implement robust data cataloging practices.
- Define and execute a roadmap for the modern data stack, including tools like Snowflake, DBT, Airflow, Mode, and ML platforms like SageMaker and other open-source tools.
- Ensure data governance, high availability, scalability, and cost optimization.
- Operational Excellence:
- Monitor and improve the operational health of data infrastructure to ensure uptime, scalability, and performance.
- Drive investments in cost-effective infrastructure improvements and operational automation.
- AI/ML Enablement:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify high-impact AI/ML use cases and ensure the data team enables their success.
- Facilitate the adoption of machine learning tools and frameworks across the organization.
- Communication & Documentation:
- Prepare and present technical and business documentation tailored to diverse audiences.
- Build strong relationships across teams and time zones through clear and effective communication.
Qualifications and skills:
- 6-8 years of experience in data product management or a similar role, with a proven track record of managing centralized data teams.
- Hands-on experience with the modern data stack (e.g., Snowflake, DBT, Airflow, Mode) and familiarity with ML/AI platforms (e.g., SageMaker, open-source tools).
- Strong experience in managing and scaling data teams, focusing on BI and infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to define roadmaps, prioritize effectively, and execute complex projects in a dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to set and achieve team OKRs aligned with company objectives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Proven ability to work with distributed teams and stakeholders across time zones.
- Experience working with AI/ML projects or a strong willingness to learn and grow in this area.
- Experience designing and implementing cost-effective data governance frameworks.
- Knowledge of data security, compliance, and privacy standards.
- Experience with Insurance or Fintech.
