The Role:
We are seeking a strategic, execution-focused leader to build our Business Development function from the ground up. This includes developing foundational processes, selecting and implementing the tech stack, defining team structure, and establishing performance metrics. You will be responsible for hiring and managing a team of BDRs, creating a scalable outbound and inbound lead generation engine aligned with our go-to-market strategy. You bring experience from a high-growth environment and possess a strong understanding of modern business development practices, with a focus on driving efficiency and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and optimize the full BDR operating model—including processes, tooling, workflows, and performance metrics
- Hire, onboard, and manage a high-performing BDR team, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and results
- Develop and execute outbound and inbound lead generation strategies that align with company objectives and targeted ideal customer profiles
- Select and manage the BDR tech stack to drive productivity and efficiency
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to refine ICPs, messaging, campaign execution, and handoff processes
- Analyze performance data to continuously improve outreach effectiveness, team output, and pipeline contribution
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience leading BDR teams with measurable success in driving pipeline and revenue
- Strong understanding of outbound and inbound lead generation strategies and execution
- Hands-on experience implementing/optimizing sales development tools and systems (e.g., Salesforce, Outreach, Apollo, ZoomInfo. etc.)
- Ability to build scalable processes, playbooks, and reporting frameworks from the ground up
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to team performance and process improvement
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to understand complex markets and buyer behavior
- High bias for action with a track record of executing quickly and effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building an BDR function from scratch in a startup or high-growth environment
- Experience at modern B2B technology companies
- Understanding of the AI/ML ecosystem and its key market dynamics, personas, and use cases
- Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and retain top BDR talent
Compensation is determined by various factors including individual qualifications, experience, skills, interview performance, market data, and work location. The listed salary range for this role is a guideline and may be modified.
New York Pay Range
$160,000 - $190,000 USD
