What will you be doing?
- Design and Deliver STEM Lessons: Create and implement standards-based lessons that integrate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in ways that engage young learners and foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
- Interdisciplinary Learning: Facilitate learning experiences that blend science with reading, writing, and speaking, empowering students to explain phenomena and develop ideas through hands-on activities and inquiry.
- Encourage Curiosity and Inquiry: Guide students in exploring the natural world through inquiry-based learning, asking questions, making observations, and using data to draw conclusions.
- Promote Student Engagement: Use manipulatives and technology to help students engage with STEM content, encouraging them to solve real-world problems and communicate their findings effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Classroom Culture: Model how to be a contributing community member, fostering a sense of belonging and high performance through positive emotional intelligence and strong communication skills.
- Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with building leadership and fellow educators to provide a collaborative, supportive learning environment that encourages continuous improvement.
About Early Childhood STEM at Foundation Academies:
- S.T.R.E.A.M. Learning: Our STrEAMlined Education model promotes interdisciplinary learning, where students integrate science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) with literacy and community-responsive learning.
- Innovative Inquiry: We engage our youngest scholars in scientific inquiry, where they observe, question, design, and explore, enhancing their curiosity and intellectual skills.
- Hands-On Experiences: Each day, students engage in activities that help them connect STEM learning with real-world applications, building a foundation for academic excellence and curiosity-driven learning.
What do we require from you?
- 2+ years of experience working in an urban setting (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- At least 9 college credits (3 classes) in core sciences
- You possess or are eligible for NJ Elementary K-6 certification with a specialization and/or interest in science or technology
- A passion for STEM education and a commitment to nurturing young minds in an interdisciplinary environment
- A track record of measurable success in fostering student achievement and curiosity preferred
- A commitment to serving our scholar population in an anti-discriminatory learning environment
- Ability to adapt to a collaborative, growth-focused educational environment
Semifinalist candidates will be required to provide unofficial transcripts, evidence of certification/eligibility, and 3 professional references.
Hired candidates are responsible for providing:
- Official transcripts
- Criminal clearance (fingerprinting)
- Medical clearance (TB/Mantoux testing)
