About The Role
G2 is seeking a Market Research Associate Analyst focused on various software markets (including Associate Market Research Analyst (ERP/Commerce/Supply Chain) to share in supporting and curating our real-time taxonomy and the related research that powers our G2 marketplace. Our analysts put buyers first through our work in developing independent and unbiased categorization of B2B software and data-driven thought leadership. At a fast paced, hyper growth company like G2, responsibilities, tasks, and projects can evolve rapidly and the ability to adapt is critical.
We’re looking for someone who understands the importance of data and can play an active role in the day-to-day operation of the G2 real time taxonomy. We remain 100% unbiased in our analyses, combining our technology and industry knowledge with the data/experiences of real software users.
Associate Analysts support their fellow team members in the growth and maintenance of G2’s priority categories. Associate Analysts can expect to learn and contribute across multiple software markets as the business requires. This role benefits from a structured approach to learning and development, and ultimately it is expected that, over time, Associate Analysts will develop subject matter expertise that leads to a subject matter expert role within G2’s Market Research team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Category Support & Development: Support the analyst team in maintaining category integrity across a variety of software markets, but this person will predominantly be focusing on Sales, Marketing, HR and Customer Service softwares. This research of software products and industries can manifest itself as identifying and sourcing products to fulfill analysts’ vision for new categories, researching and categorizing new and evolving software products within our taxonomy, crafting educational content for our category pages, as well as learning about trends to make recommendations focused on the on-going development of our taxonomy.
- Advisory Influence: Gain exposure across a variety of software markets. Learn more about the process to educate buyers about how to best select, implement, utilize, and benefit from business solutions via the categories and content they manage. Shadow sales efforts understanding vendors or partnership questions to support as needed. Assist with engaging buyers and reviewers on our platform as needed.
- Collaboration: Work directly with, and learn from, analysts across a variety of markets and project types. Collaborate with the rest of the G2 team to develop and deliver new reports, insights and offerings. This role will work in close cooperation with our colleagues in our Operations team who are key partners in the day-to-day management of work across G2 Market Research.
Minimum Qualifications:

● Strong research and analysis skills, as well as an eagerness to develop written research capabilities
● Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related discipline - or equivalent, relevant work experience in B2B software markets
● Fast, continuous learner who can work independently
● Flexible and adaptable, willing to take on new challenges
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
● Strong verbal and written communicator both internally and externally
● Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
● 1-2 years of professional experience
● Experience in specific software categories as a practitioner, researcher or analyst advantageous
