Geotab is seeking a Lead Embedded Test & Automation Developer who will provide technical leadership to a team of test automation developers delivering Hardware in the Loop (HIL), Software in the Loop (SIL), platforms and CI/CD pipelines for all Geotab telematics and expandability embedded products. What you'll do:
As a Lead Embedded Test & Automation Developer, you will define and implement improvements for embedded software automation test frameworks. You will guide the team in test strategy development, create technical documentation, manage test coverage, and contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members, drive continuous process automation, and collaborate with stakeholders to plan and improve testing strategies . To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts.
How you'll make an impact
- Participate in defining, designing and implementing tools/infrastructure improvement for embedded software end to end automation test frameworks.
- Help determine strategy, work breakdown structure and timeline for HIL and SIL automation setups.
- Prepare technical documents and design specifications for the framework and automated tools usage.
- Be involved in understanding new devices and products, their requirements and define test requirements with test strategy and test plan.
- Technically guide and mentor junior team members in implementing and extending embedded test framework support.
- Manage test coverage, test environment creation, and maintenance.
- Drive continuous improvement in test coverage and test effectiveness.
- Build and contribute to CI/CD Pipelines, release management and testing, release strategies.
- Recommend innovative ideas to automate processes in order to reduce manual effort and implement.
- Solve complex problems, contribute to defining strategic direction with stakeholders, help with planning the roadmap, and synthesizing feedback to ensure team success.
What you'll bring to the role
- Proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks, such as Gitlab, Github, Jenkins, dSPACE, Vector tools
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
- Experience with agile methodology and scrum based development is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with delivering presentations and training.
- Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
- Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
- A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
- Stay current with new testing technologies and drive initiatives within the team.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
- Bachelors degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
