Senior Frontend Engineer - App Enablement Team
Little more about the team:
You’ll be joining the App Enablement engineering team, focused on improving developer productivity and experience across Honeycomb. We own our internal design system, Lattice, along with frontend tooling and infrastructure—all aimed at making it easier to build fast, accessible, high-quality interfaces. This team brings a platform mindset to frontend engineering, helping product teams build features quickly while upholding standards through smart defaults, strong collaboration, and thoughtful tooling.
What you’ll do in the role:
- Build and evolve our design system. You’ll spend much of your time building Lattice, our internal design system, using TypeScript and React. This includes building accessible, reusable UI components, improving documentation and developer experience, and ensuring consistency across our product surfaces. Your work will directly support other engineers and designers by making it easier and faster to build polished, high-quality interfaces.
- Model and implement engineering best practices. You’ll contribute your perspective to larger technical decisions, influencing how we build and evolve our front end—including the infrastructure that supports it. This includes having opinions on things like styling conventions, linting rules, and the overall developer experience of our front-end stack
- Provide technical leadership. You’ll take the lead on projects, helping to drive them from idea to implementation.
- Collaborate with Design and other development teams. You’ll work closely with designers and engineers across teams to ensure we’re building the right things in the right way—helping them move faster while maintaining quality, consistency, and usability.
- Educate compassionately. From onboarding to their first pull request to shipping to production, App Enablement should be helping newbees and tenured bees alike to learn more about how to ship robust and accessible frontends at a rapid development velocity.
- Pair program with other engineers. Our team is fully distributed across multiple time zones, and we regularly use pair programming to build our solutions. Pairing is not required for every change but is a tool we use to help reduce knowledge silos, encourage strong communication, and help other engineers learn how to effectively use our tools and systems.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Experience building applications with React. You’ve worked in large codebases, implementing modern React patterns to build maintainable, performant interfaces. Experience with TypeScript is highly preferred.
- Experience working on a component library or design system. You’ve built or maintained reusable UI components and understand the challenges of creating consistent, accessible, and flexible building blocks for a broader product surface.
- Passion for making systems work better. We’ll be building out and maturing Honeycomb’s design system and internal tools. We’re looking for engineers who want to automate the toil away from frontend development and feedback loops so that product teams can build cool new features even faster.
- A strong sense of teamwork. You have worked on teams requiring collaboration with other engineers and cross-functional partners, such as product managers and designers. You look for opportunities to reduce knowledge silos and level up the team members around you. You enjoy pair programming and helping others when they are stuck.
- Experience evaluating feedback loops for the Software Development Lifecycle. This team is first and foremost for other developers. You have experience in running programs and building tools to keep the feedback loop fast and high signal for the fastest development as possible.
