ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Security Analyst is a key position within the IT team. This position maintains a focus on vulnerability management across the organization’s infrastructure, investigating and remediating security-related alerts, and plays a key role in the organization’s compliance efforts.
Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:
- Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot all installed systems and infrastructure including FortiGate and Cisco firewalls, VPN solutions, and other critical network security components.
- Administer and maintain security measures to protect information systems and infrastructure from unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.
- Lead vulnerability management efforts across the organization’s infrastructure, conducting vulnerability scans, analyzing results, prioritizing vulnerabilities based on risk, and coordinating remediation efforts.
- Monitor security logs and SIEM systems for abnormal behavior or security-related events, investigating and resolving potential security incidents.
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of endpoint protection platforms (EPP), ensuring systems are updated and maintained according to best practices, and performing routine audits of the EPP to ensure its effectiveness and coverage.
- Work with other IT teams to ensure that systems and applications comply with relevant security policies and standards.
- Develop and implement security protocols, procedures, and security awareness training programs to promote a security-first culture within the organization.
- Conduct regular system audits to ensure hardware and software are functioning securely and as expected.
- Prepare and document standard operating procedures, protocols, and security-related policies.
- Perform risk assessments, risk mitigation, and incident response activities as necessary.
- Assist with the organization’s compliance efforts, including remediation, testing, and evidence collection.
ABOUT YOU
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical work experience in security engineering.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3-5 years in security engineering or advanced security roles.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CISM, or equivalent.
- Relevant vendor certifications like FortiGate NSE, Cisco CCNP Security, or similar security-related certifications.
- Cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer) are a plus.
- Extensive hands-on experience with FortiGate, Cisco firewalls, VPN solutions, and other security infrastructure components.
- In-depth knowledge of network security protocols (e.g., IPsec, SSL/TLS), IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, firewalls, VPN, and encryption technologies.
- Proficient in using SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) to monitor and analyze security events, identifying potential threats and ensuring effective incident response.
- Proven experience with endpoint protection platforms (EPP) such as CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, or similar.
- Advanced knowledge of vulnerability management tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, Rapid7) and their integration with patch management and remediation workflows.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network architectures and solutions.
- Ability to automate security processes through scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) to improve operational efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to lead incident response activities, including identifying, investigating, containing, and recovering from security incidents.
- Experience in security forensics and root cause analysis for post-incident reporting and process improvement.
- Solid experience with risk assessment tools, methodologies, and strategies.
- Familiarity with compliance regulations such as SOC 2, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, and PCI-DSS.
- Practical experience securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and knowledge of cloud-native security tools and technologies.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to act decisively during security incidents.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with IT, development, and operations teams to address security risks and ensure systems and networks remain secure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in documenting security protocols and presenting findings to leadership.
