About the Role

iCapital is seeking a Vice President, Private Markets Strategist to join the Investment Strategy team. This individual will play a key role in expanding the team's private markets coverage and supporting the growing demand for private market insights across advisors, clients, and internal stakeholders. Working alongside other investment strategists and private markets specialists, this role will help strengthen the team's collective research capabilities and thought leadership efforts as iCapital's private markets platform and client engagement activities continue to scale. This person will complement key macro and public market research output, while aiding iCapital’s total portfolio approach. 

The ideal candidate will possess deep private markets expertise and the ability to translate complex research and investment themes into clear, actionable messaging for financial advisors, clients, and distribution teams. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to iCapital's Alternative Distribution team, helping advisors better understand private market opportunities, market developments, portfolio applications, and evolving client needs. As advisor demand for education, portfolio guidance, and differentiated insights continues to grow, this role will help bridge investment research and commercial engagement efforts across the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis across private equity, venture, private credit, infrastructure, real estate, secondaries, and other alternative investment strategies.
  • Develop differentiated viewpoints on private markets, including market trends, portfolio construction considerations and evolving investor adoption patterns.
  • Translate market research, investment data, and industry developments into actionable insights, advisor education materials, presentations, white papers, market commentaries, and client-facing content.
  • Partner closely with other members of the Investment Strategy team to enhance private markets coverage within broader asset allocation, market outlook, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Alternative Distribution team to support advisor engagement, strategic client conversations, educational events, and business development opportunities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert during client meetings, advisor education sessions, conferences, webinars, and internal training programs.
  • Monitor industry trends, fund flows, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics impacting private markets and alternative investments.
  • Leverage internal and external data sources to identify emerging themes and develop insights that inform investment narratives and client messaging.
  • Utilize analytical tools, technology, and AI-enabled research methodologies to improve research efficiency, uncover investment insights, and support scalable content creation.
  • Partner with Product, Research, Due Diligence, Distribution, and Client Solutions teams to ensure investment views and messaging remain aligned and relevant to evolving client needs.
  • Contribute to the development of repeatable research frameworks, knowledge resources, and scalable content supporting iCapital's expanding private markets platform.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in private markets, alternative investments, asset management, investment strategy, investment research, or related investment functions
  • Deep expertise across private market asset classes, including private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate, and related alternative investment strategies
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities with the ability to synthesize complex datasets into clear investment insights
  • Experience working with investment data platforms and technology-enabled research tools; familiarity with AI-driven research and analytics applications is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to develop independent, differentiated investment viewpoints supported by rigorous analysis
  • Proven experience translating investment research into compelling client-facing content, presentations, thought leadership, and advisor education materials
  • Strong collaboration skills and a track record of working effectively across investment, product, distribution, research, and client-facing teams
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex investment topics to sophisticated audiences
  • Experience engaging directly with financial advisors, wealth management firms, institutional investors, or distribution teams is preferred
  • Proficiency with Excel and familiar with Bloomberg, PitchBook, Preqin, FactSet, or similar investment research platforms
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail

Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $160,000 to $200,000. iCapital offers a compensation package which includes salary, equity for all full-time employees, and an annual performance bonus.
