What You Will Do:
- Define and execute Impinj Inc’s industrialization strategy leading all efforts in RAIN RFID inlay manufacturing, inlay test, label converting, label encoding, and embedded inlay technologies, inclusive of:
- Evaluate and define inlay assembly machine architecture and antenna manufacturing technologies
- Develop inlay manufacturing and test flow, including all critical assembly process parameters
- Address unique challenges and reliability needs of the embedded inlay market across product and packaging applications.
- Direct and scale the Impinj Inc industrialization team. Design and execute inlay assembly reference recipes tailored to different machine architectures for each new generation of Impinj Inc Endpoint ICs—enabling customers to ramp high-volume production with high yields, superior quality, and industry-leading reliability.
- Partner strategically with and provide technical direction to the Impinj Inc EPIC silicon design team to ensure endpoint ICs are not only high performant but strategically designed for producing high quality reliable inlays at industry leading hvm speeds.
- Define critical design elements such as bump designs, circuit features, and product attributes that aid customers in meeting stringent inlay manufacturing tolerances.
- Partner and align with the Impinj Inc Silicon Process Engineering team to benchmark and assess backend wafer production changes that affect inlay assembly speed and quality, including bumping technologies, trenching, dicing technologies, wafer tapes etc.
- Drive, design, and manage R&D programs focused on developing breakthrough inlay assembly technologies that improve accuracy, speed, yield, and reliability. Execute these innovations into production through ecosystem partnerships, aligning with the strategic needs of expanding RFID target market segment.
- Establish and execute a long-term roadmap in collaboration with RFID ecosystem partners—including ACP manufacturers, inlay assembly machine and antenna manufacturers, and test equipment providers—to chart and execute the developments required to handle ever increasingly smaller and more sensitive RFID tag ICs and scale and future-proof inlay production for capacity from billions to trillions of RFID tags annually.
- Identify and solve customer production challenges by partnering with Impinj Inc Quality, Operations, Product Management, and Sales teams. Apply your expertise directly with the customer and partner’s technical and ops teams to resolve quality, reliability, scale, and speed issues.
- Represent and influence the industry as Impinj Inc’s thought leader in inlay manufacturing quality and certification standards bodies, defining best practices and contributing to continuous improvement in RFID inlay and label manufacturing
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Silicon Design, Test, and Manufacturing, with at least 7 years in global leadership roles.
- Demonstrated ability to define strategy and execute complex technical and organizational goals.
- A strong track record of developing repeatable processes and designing experiments (DOEs) to validate and improve outcomes.
- Excellent communication and executive presence with the ability to synthesize strategy and execution plans for leadership and technical audiences.
- A strong commitment and enthusiasm for engaging directly with customers and ecosystem partners on-site globally to apply your expertise in resolving critical, time-sensitive challenges—even in unfamiliar domains.
- A passion for engaging directly with customers and partners to resolve high-stakes technical challenges.
- Deep understanding of Silicon manufacturing variance, impedance analysis, and process impacts across silicon and inlay supply chains.
- A history of mentoring and developing talent within cross-functional and global teams.
- Strong business acumen with an ability to align technical strategy with organizational goals and customer success.
Compensation & Benefits:
The benefits listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Impinj and the country where you work.
The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $199,000 - $320,000. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role. US based employees have access to healthcare benefits; a 401(k) plan and company match among others.
