The Finance Manager will play a critical role in managing and overseeing daily accounting activities and ensuring inflows and payments against our financial ledgers. Selected candidates will work closely with our top management to maintain Karya’s financial integrity and provide strategic financial insights to support our growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily finance operations, ensuring cash flow, liquidity and the optimisation of financial resources.
- Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and optimise the use of financial resources ensuring it meets short-term and long-term liquidity needs, taking into account the cyclical nature of a startup’s financial needs.
- Create and maintain cash flow forecasts to predict future cash requirements and identify potential shortfalls.
- Lead and manage the daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Ensuring all people in the organisation abide by our financial policies.
- Ensuring continuous compliance with regulatory requirements
- Process vendor payments and manage procurements to ensure rigorous and conscious fiscal spending.
- Corroborate and verify employee requests for claims and reimbursements, including scrutiny of invoices and bills.
- Supporting the finance team in managing the accounts, payroll and invoices.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, providing insights for strategic decision-making.
- Maintaining internal controls and financial procedures to safeguard company assets and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Lead financial reporting
- Preparing and presenting timely (monthly) and accurate financial statements, reports and forecasts, highlighting key financial insights and recommendations.
- Work closely with the management to liaise with external auditors and internal team members, ensuring a smooth audit process, and address any audit findings or recommendations.
- Contribute to and manage annual financial reporting requirements as they may arise.
- Handle ad-hoc financial reporting requests and provide customized reports to support various business needs.
Supporting the CRO in budgeting and forecasting to ensure alignment with business and impact goals.
- Supporting the CRO & CA’s in developing the financial budget, forecasting and financial monitoring mechanisms.
- Work closely with the Karya Leadership team to ensure adherence and understanding of departmental budgets.
- Collaborate with the CRO to identify financial opportunities and challenges within the accounts.
- Work with various teams across the organization to ensure financial alignment and adherence to financial objectives.
- Monitor actual financial performance against the budget, analyzing variances and providing explanations for discrepancies.
- Conduct sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of various scenarios on the budget and financial outcomes.
- Supporting the CRO and founders with financial management and planning regarding sales, grant management and fundraising.
Required Skills and qualifications:
- B.Com./BBA Finance (5+ years exp) or MBA Finance (3+ years) or CA (3+ years)
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in FP&A, financial management, with a strong track record of accounting and forecasting.
- Experience in both non-profit and for-profit financial management is preferred
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and financial software tools
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and communication with the Co-Founders, Chartered Accountants, and other team members
- Proven ability to work independently, adapt to a dynamic startup environment, and drive financial initiatives
