We’re looking for a Senior Portfolio Analyst to join our Financial Services team. You will play a crucial role in leveraging data-driven insights to enhance business strategies, drive innovation, and optimize decision-making

What you’ll be doing:

The primary responsibilities for this position include analyzing complex credit and lending data, developing strategies to mitigate losses, and providing actionable insights to support growth, risk management, and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that strengthen our capital lending product and meaningfully contribute to the organization’s long-term success.

Data Analysis and Modeling

    • Conduct extensive data analysis using statistical and machine learning techniques to identify patterns, trends, and relationships within datasets.
    • Develop predictive and prescriptive models to forecast market trends, fraud, delinquency, customer behavior, and other critical business metrics.
    • Utilize various data sources and data preprocessing techniques to ensure data quality and integrity.

Business Strategy and Insights

    • Collaborate with business leaders to understand their challenges and goals, providing data-driven insights and recommendations that drive strategic decision-making.
    • Identify opportunities to leverage data to improve product offerings, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
    • Deliver machine learning models for use cases that have high impact on real world business applications and fundamentally change business processes.

Machine Learning and AI Solutions:

    • Design, develop, implement and maintain cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and AI solutions to optimize business processes, risk assessment, fraud detection, and portfolio management.
    • Explore and experiment with state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to improve accuracy and efficiency in financial analysis.

Performance Monitoring and Communication

    • Create clear and concise data visualizations and reports to communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Translate analytical results into actionable business insights and present findings to senior management in a compelling and easily understandable manner.

What you need to bring:

We’re a team of 5 people located in North America. This group is in hyper-growth mode, seeking an experienced professional who can bring this business to the next level, assisting with yield optimization, financial risk strategies, and market expansion.

We're looking for a candidate who has experience with the following:

  • Proven experience as an Analyst, preferably in the financial services sector, with a track record of successful project delivery and business impact.
  • Experience in risk modeling software and tools (e.g., SAS, R, Python, Matlab) and machine learning using libraries such as NumPy, Pandas and scikit-learn.
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and data mining techniques (bonus points for experience with ML engineering and/or operations in a production setting).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (we use GCP) for scalable data processing and analysis, as well as, for machine learning model development and deployment.
  • Strong knowledge of databases and SQL for data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Looker, Tableau or Power BI to create insightful reports and dashboards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • A Master's or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or Mathematics is nice to have.

At Lightspeed, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your skillset, qualifications, experience, and market data. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We reasonably expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $75,000 to $101,000 USD, depending on the candidate’s location. Additionally, this role may be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. Lightspeed also provides a variety of employee benefits including, but not limited to, medical, dental, wellness, life and disability insurance, 401K plan and match, paid parental leave top-up, and paid time off. 

Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within the United States, and refers to the amount Lightspeed is willing to pay at the time of this posting, which may vary depending on the candidate’s actual location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
