Senior Application Engineer

Minitab is looking for a Senior Application Engineer! They will design, develop, integrate, configure, and maintain complex web and database applications to support Minitab’s enterprise-wide systems and multi-site interoperability. They will provide technical leadership across project teams, ensuring seamless integration and continuous alignment with Minitab’s business needs and strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain enterprise-wide systems to ensure multi-site interoperability.

  • Integrate enterprise web and database applications with other internal and external systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to design systems that align with the company’s business objectives and technical strategies.

  • Understand Minitab’s business operations, goals, strategies, and global requirements. Maintain a strong working knowledge of enterprise systems and integrated applications.

  • Maintain and extend existing applications to meet evolving business requirements.

  • Assist in developing and enforcing department coding standards and best practices.

  • Participate in code reviews and research new technologies to improve development processes.

  • Document application structures, designs, and operational processes. Establish and maintain programming conventions to ensure consistency across applications.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as backup to other application engineers and assist with project-related tasks as needed.

  • Participate in project teams and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline; or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in software or enterprise application development.

  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Working knowledge of general business operations and familiarity with information systems and technology.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Microsoft .NET platform, C#, and integration technologies.

  • Experience applying coding design patterns and distributed system design patterns.

  • Familiarity with messaging patterns.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, particularly Web APIs, Web Apps, and messaging.

  • Experience in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Restful Services, APIs, and JSON.

  • Experience with web development technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript) and web frameworks (ASP.NET, ReactJS/Redux, Knockout, Angular).

  • Familiarity with source control systems (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git).

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.

  • Ability to write and maintain unit tests using frameworks like NUnit.

  • Familiarity with enterprise business systems such as CRM, ERP, marketing automation, or e-commerce platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong ability to work effectively within a collaborative team of skilled software professionals.

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and evaluate their relevance and application to Minitab.

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative in solving technical challenges, including moderate to complex problems.

  • Desire to lead small teams and mentor junior engineers.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to understand and convey technical concepts clearly in English.
