Role:  Social Media Director – APAC 

Location: India (Remote)

 

About the role: 

The Director of Social Media – APAC will build and elevate our social media marketing services across this dynamic, high-growth region. You will unite social media practitioners currently embedded across diverse markets and clients, driving a practice that helps OLIVER stand out with original, award-winning work that delivers strong value to clients. Working with passionate local teams and business leads, you'll unlock significant growth opportunities while developing our creator and social commerce services. 

We seek a highly accomplished social media leader with deep expertise across the diverse APAC landscape. You understand the nuanced consumer behaviours, platform preferences, and cultural dynamics across key markets including Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and India. You're excited by the region's leadership in social commerce and see the opportunity to build something special. You're a strategic thinker who can help teams deliver work that positions OLIVER as a strategic partner, not just a production resource. You're data-driven, results-oriented, culturally sensitive, and passionate about what makes brands succeed across Asia-Pacific's varied digital ecosystems. 

 

What you will be doing: 

Leadership & Capability Building: 

  • Unite and empower social media practitioners embedded across APAC clients and markets, building strategic capability and fostering cross-market collaboration and learning. 
  • Coach teams to deliver strategically-driven, high-value work that positions OLIVER as a key partner to clients and drives measurable business results. 
  • Develop expertise in social commerce and live selling, positioning OLIVER as a leader in these rapidly evolving areas where APAC sets global standards. 
  • Leverage AI and proprietary technology to enhance team efficiency and output quality across markets. 

Growth & Strategic Client Management: 

  • Drive business growth by identifying and capitalizing on opportunities across the region, serving as a strategic advisor and figurehead among APAC clients. 
  • Provide culturally-nuanced social media consultancy to senior clients, developing market-specific strategies and frameworks that maximize ROI while respecting local consumer behaviors and platform ecosystems. 
  • Build and nurture strong client relationships across markets, partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver smart, effective solutions tailored to local needs. 
  • Develop compelling proposals that secure new business, expand existing accounts, and introduce social commerce capabilities.

Market Excellence & Innovation: 

  • Establish best practices that respect market differences while promoting service excellence, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness across the region. 
  • Ensure teams leverage emerging technologies—particularly in social commerce, live selling, and AI—to deliver greater value to clients. 
  • Educate clients and teams on market-specific social media opportunities, platform innovations, and the power of social to drive measurable brand impact and ROI. 
  • Share cross-market insights and success stories to elevate practice across the entire region. 

 

What you need to be great in this role: 

  • APAC Market Expertise & Cultural Intelligence: Deep understanding of social media landscapes across multiple APAC markets (10+ years in agencies or brands within the region), particularly Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and India. Proven ability to navigate diverse consumer behaviours, platform preferences, and cultural nuances. Strong knowledge of social commerce and live selling best practices. 
  • Strategic Builder & Change Leader: Track record of building social capabilities that differentiate agencies in market. Skilled at developing award-winning work and strategic approaches that position agencies as key partners. Ability to unite distributed talent across markets, fostering collaboration and excellence. 
  • Client Relationship Management & Flawless Communication: Excellent presentation skills with the ability to deliver compelling communications both in person and online. Exceptional ability to build and maintain senior client relationships, representing the agency with polish and confidence at industry events, in boardrooms, and new business situations. 
  • Results-Driven & Entrepreneurial: Proven track record of driving revenue growth and delivering profitable outcomes. Proactive, solution-oriented, and energized by opportunity. Focused on delivering measurable results and effective work that drives business outcomes. Comfortable building in a high-growth environment. 
  • Passion for and inquisitive about AI and new technologies 
  • Understanding and knowledge of AI tools is beneficial, but ability to learn and digest benefits and features of AI tools is critical
