Position Summary
On Energy Storage is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support the construction and commissioning of a utility-scale BESS project in Amarillo, TX. This is a full-time, on-site role embedded within the project team. The Field Engineer will serve as the primary technical resource for the EPC contractor and commissioning teams, providing real-time electrical and mechanical guidance, resolving field issues, and ensuring that installation activities align with On Energy Storage's engineering standards, design documents, and applicable codes. The ideal candidate brings a strong electrical engineering background with hands-on experience supporting field construction and commissioning activities on power systems or energy storage projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site technical point of contact for the EPC contractor.
- Interpret engineering drawings and support field installation teams.
- Review and resolve RFIs with the engineering team.
- Monitor installation for compliance with design and codes.
- Identify and resolve field discrepancies.
- Document and share lessons learned on equipment being installed.
- Support FAT and SAT activities.
- Maintain field reports and documentation.
- Coordinate with engineering and EPC teams.
- Participate in meetings and safety reviews.
- Verify equipment installation compliance.
- Support punch list and project closeout.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems.
- Ability to read electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA.
- Troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Procore.
- Ability to work on-site in Amarillo, TX.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with BESS systems.
- EPC or infrastructure project experience.
- Commissioning and QA/QC familiarity.
- Bluebeam experience.
- SCADA/EMS exposure.
- EIT or PE certification preferred.
