Backstage (https://backstage.forgerock.com) is a key component of the Ping customer portal. You will be part of the team responsible for designing, implementing, testing, documenting, deploying, and maintaining the Backstage microservices platform. As a full-stack developer, you will contribute to both server-side and client-side applications within the Backstage cloud ecosystem. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, writes clean and maintainable code, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of user stories and tasks within sprints, adhering to Agile principles and timelines.
  • Design, implement, and test full-stack applications, including front-end, back-end, databases, and APIs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product managers, designers, and engineers—to define and deliver new features.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and best practices to continuously enhance the platform.
  • Write clear, comprehensive technical documentation to ensure code is well-documented and maintainable.

Required Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (STEM).
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack development, with a strong understanding of both front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Front-End: Proficiency in modern TypeScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS, and at least one front-end framework (Angular, React, Vue.js, etc.).
  • Back-End: Experience with Java (11+)/Kotlin and familiarity with RESTful API design.
  • Databases: Strong knowledge of SQL (MySQL) and NoSQL (Elasticsearch) databases.
  • Version Control: Experience with Git and Bitbucket/GitHub/GitLab for version control and collaboration.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Experience with cloud platforms preferably GCP, and familiarity with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).
  • Testing: Knowledge of automated testing frameworks (Mockito/Mockk, Jasmine Cypress, etc.) and practices.
  • Excellent Communication: both verbal and written English.
  • Collaboration: demonstrated strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Linux: proven systems experience working on Linux-based operating systems.
  • Container deployment: containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker).

Desirable Skills

  • Microservices: Experience designing or working with microservices architectures.
  • AI/ML Integration: Experience working with AI-driven technologies or machine learning models.
  • Agile/Scrum: Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Trello.
  • Security: Understanding of secure coding practices, including OAuth, JWT, data encryption, etc.Salesforce: Experience integrating with Salesforce products
