The Opportunity
Postman’s Web Platform team seeks a Backend Engineer to participate in our journey of ensuring our web and desktop applications are distributed to our 30+ million customers in the best possible way. This is your chance to shape how Postman’s current and future products are built and delivered to our customers. Your work will immediately impact our 30+ million customers and will be crucial in our journey to 100 million connected developers. In this role, you’ll collaborate with leaders and engineers across Postman to assist in architecting solutions and proactively identify opportunities to improve our client platform. You work with other engineers and technical leaders in Client Platform in line with various other teams, as the distribution of our applications is a fundamental function of the whole company.
About the Team
The Web Platform team is a global engineering organization responsible for creating a “paved path” for all Postmanauts to develop and release web-based applications. Our platform is the foundation that hundreds of Postman engineers rely on daily to deliver new features and improvements to over 30 million customers. We manage everything from build tooling and shared libraries to development infrastructure and best practices..
Within the Web Platform, we have a team called the Distribution team responsible for the infrastructure, services, best practices and support activities related to the release and roll-out of Postman web and desktop applications.
What you’ll do
- Take part in strategic technical initiatives to improve the deployment, release, and rollout of our applications.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust solutions to help our teams deliver value to our customers smoothly and efficiently.
- Being an agent of change to improve our architecture and tech stack in the CI/CD flow.
- Identify emerging technologies and patterns that simplify distributing large single-page web applications.
- Advocate for best practices that improve reliability, security, performance, or quality.
- Perform code reviews and share knowledge within the team.
Requirements
- 3 - 5 years of hands-on backend software engineering experience.
- Should have experience with Node.js
- Understanding of the distribution of large single-page applications.
- Experience designing and implementing APIs/libraries that are well-designed, tested, and documented.
- Experience with implementing CI/CD flows.
- Experience collaborating across engineering teams.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have
- A passion for teaching and making others more productive.
- A willingness to get into the unglamorous details of building modern distributed systems.
- Experience implementing the distribution of a Microfrontend architecture.
