Job Summary:
Real Chemistry is looking for a Principal, Real World Data to join our growing team!
At Real Chemistry’s Real-World Data Solutions team, we’re turning the clinical promise of precision medicine into an analytical reality. Anchored by a rich 300+MM longitudinal patient database, combined with market leading ML capabilities, Real Chemistry is laser focused on the transformation of specialty market clinical trial recruitment and commercialization strategies. With a focus in emerging markets where classical commercialization approaches of market sizing, patient journey and patient finding are outdated, Real Chemistry is spearheading the emergence of a new market segment with the patient at the center of health data analytics approaches.
The Associate Principal / Principal has a multi-faceted role, with a primary responsibility for exceptional client delivery and strong client relationships. The Associate Principal / Principal also plays an active role in the sales process, communicating the value of Real Chemistry and uniquely identifying solutions to clients’ business problems. Therefore, this role will straddle both sales and delivery, and provide a critical linkage between the two functions. Given the wide range of the Associate Principal / Principal’s responsibilities, a seasoned understanding of the evolving pharmaceutical market (precision medicine, omnichannel data analytics, patient level data integration, etc.) and client-facing communication skills/language coupled with sound technical capabilities/competency is critical to success.
Travel within the region is estimated at 20%.
This is a hybrid role, based in any of our US offices—including New York City, Boston, Chicago, Carmel, or San Francisco—or remotely within the US, depending on team and business needs.
What you’ll do:
Delivery
The Associate Principal / Principal will lead multiple, parallel consulting engagements leveraging health claims data to address client needs. The role will encompass both external, client-facing and internal project leadership responsibilities. The delivery role will involve the clear and detailed translation of sold engagements to the operations team for analysis, while simultaneously managing ongoing project delivery and ‘evolving’ client expectations. The Associate Principal / Principal maintains proactive and consistent communication across client and delivery teams. Responsibilities to include:
- Design and develop strategies, methodologies, and project plans for leveraging medical claims data to deliver against client needs
- Facilitate and manage all project communication needs, including client-facing communications and internal communications
- Act as single point of contact with the following parties: Managing Principal, Client, Sales Lead, and Operations team (ongoing and consistent communication with all parties critical for delivery success)
- Create and maintain delivery timelines in conjunction with client and internal teams
- Maintain appropriate scope for ongoing client engagements and follow-ups, while managing a portfolio of client engagements
- Develop highest quality client deliverables in a hands-on role in a matrix environment (Excel, SQL, etc.)
- Conduct thorough quality control (QC) measures and pressure-test analysis outputs based on desk research and experiential logic
- Derive insights and create PowerPoint stories from secondary claims data that address client needs/questions, with comfort delivering presentations to internal teams or brand/analytics teams within external organizations
Business Development
The Associate Principal / Principal also proactively identifies and qualifies leads, supporting the Managing Principal and sales teams across multiple qualified opportunities at any given time. The Associate Principal / Principal understands unique client business problems and translates solutions into sales support materials and development of sales-related presentations. Responsibilities include:
- Cultivate relationships with existing clients and contacts within the biopharma industry, generate interest for Real Chemistry analytics offerings, and translate to sales opportunities
- Identify client opportunities proactively, and work with Managing Principal and sales team to qualify and pursue sales leads
- Support the Managing Principal and Sales Lead in developing sales materials for identified opportunities
- Design and develop strategies and methodologies to deliver against client needs, and translate into compelling sales and pitch materials
- Understand the dynamic competitive landscape and successfully position Real Chemistry in competitive selling situations
- Assist the Managing Principal and Sales Lead in managing client relationships
- Assist the Managing Principal and Sales Lead in identifying upselling opportunities
Thought Leadership and Innovation
The Associate Principal / Principal will assist the Managing Principal to continuously assess the existing capabilities and solution offering and assist in the process of identifying potential improvements. The Associate Principal / Principal will also proactively look for opportunities to increase awareness about Real Chemistry’s brand and positioning in the industry. Responsibilities to include:
- Develop a repository of case studies
- Assessing and improving upon the work done in the past from a methodology, presentation, and visualization standpoint
- Identifying opportunities to partner with clients to create referenceable work or presentations or white papers
This position is a perfect fit for you if:

- You are adaptable, resilient, and OK with adjusting your scope, responsibilities, and focus as we grow. When things change, so do we. We’re always evolving.

What you should have:

Working with Real HART: Since the pandemic, we have adapted to how our people told us they want to work. We have office locations in cities in the US, UK, and Europe with many employees and clients that serve as hubs where and when they need us. For employees who are within an hour of one of our offices, we expect attendance in the office two days per week, either at a Real Chemistry office or onsite with clients. We are also actively opening new office locations, so if one opens near you, our Real HART policy will apply. We are not looking for attendance for the sake of attendance but believe that the opportunity to coordinate in-office team meetings, 1:1 meetings with managers, taking advantage of on-site learning, and connecting with client partners is a critical to delivering on our purpose of making healthcare what it should be. Outside of these offices, we have regions, where people work remotely but come together quarterly for collaboration, culture and learning opportunities. We call this our Real Hybrid and Regional Teams (Real HART) approach. Real Chemistry believes we are best together – and our workplace strategy fosters connection and collaboration in person – but also supports flexibility for our people.
