Who we are looking for
Re:Build Battery Solutions is seeking a skilled and experienced Battery Engineering Lab Manager to lead the daily operations of our pioneering battery pack assembly facility. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in battery technologies with strong leadership skills to manage a dynamic team and ensure the successful execution of projects. This role will be essential in realizing a variety of robust battery pack designs and will bring to bear sophisticated manufacturing, comprehensive data collection, and principles of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
What you get to do
- Supervise and maintain the laboratory’s infrastructure, equipment, and resources to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Oversee scheduling and prioritization of testing, prototype assembly, method development, and testing/analysis activities.
- Work with the Battery Design team to optimize pack design and performance and the Battery Manufacturing team to ensure DFM.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure flawless transition from development to production and support production validation and solving when needed.
- Ensure alignment with safety and quality standards, including consistency with company and regulatory guidelines.
- Create and lead and mentor a team of battery engineers and technicians.
- Provide training, technical guidance, and performance feedback to team members.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the lab.
- Coordinate and manage numerous projects related to battery pack assembly, testing, and optimization.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and work you're doing to ensure successful completion.
- Work together with internal and external collaborators to align lab activities with organizational goals.
- Oversee the design and execution of experiments to evaluate battery performance, safety, and durability.
- Analyze test data and provide insights to advise product development and decision-making.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in battery pack assembly technologies and integrate innovative methodologies into lab practices.
What you bring to the team
- BS or MS in Battery Science, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in battery development and testing.
- Strong understanding of battery pack assembly methods, testing protocols, and associated data analysis and interpretation.
- Careful data collection and record keeping skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of lab safety protocols and regulations.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with advanced battery technologies (e.g., solid-state, lithium-ion, sodium-ion).
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools for battery design.
- Strong communication skills for technical reporting and collaboration.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily lab-based with occasional travel to partner facilities or conferences.
- Hands-on interaction with testing equipment and prototypes may be required.
