Position Summary:
The Samsung MPS ESIL Team is seeking a Machine Learning Research Engineer to drive the development of on-device enterprise AI agents and frameworks. This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing LLM-powered agents that run securely on mobile, wearable, and IoT devices in resource-constrained environments. You will explore novel agent architectures, advance retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and ensure safe, robust, and performant post-training of LLMs for enterprise deployments. This is a unique opportunity to push forward next-generation enterprise AI agent technology, with impact on millions of devices globally and opportunities to contribute to patents and publications.
Position Responsibilities:
- Explore and design novel agent architectures for enterprise-grade AI agents that combine automation, context-awareness, and secure decision-making
- Research and develop on-device RAG pipelines, integrating knowledge graphs, vector search, and hybrid keyword search to enable secure and contextual enterprise AI
- Strong knowledge of AI agent architectures, context-aware systems, and multi-agent frameworks
- Optimize retrieval and reasoning workflows for agents, ensuring efficient integration of enterprise knowledge into LLM-based decision-making
- Conduct post-training optimization (safety tuning, alignment, and evaluation) for robust and trustworthy deployment of enterprise AI agents
- Apply model optimization techniques (quantization, distillation, pruning) for efficient deployment on mobile and IoT devices
- Build frameworks leveraging LiteRT LM, Mediapipe LLM, llama.cpp, MLC LLM, and similar runtimes for on-device agent deployment
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate device agents into Knox enterprise solutions
- Evaluate agent performance in enterprise use cases and contribute to patents and top-tier research publications
- Rapidly prototype and develop proof-of-concept applications to explore new features and validate technical feasibility
Required Skills:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI/ML or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 1+ years of experience
- Hands-on experience with LLMs and NLP applications, especially in enterprise or security contexts
- Strong knowledge of AI agent architectures, multi-agent coordination, and decision-making frameworks
- Experience building or optimizing retrieval systems (knowledge graphs, vector search, hybrid search)
- Familiarity with RAG pipelines and their integration with LLMs for enterprise applications
- Proficiency in post-training techniques (alignment, safety tuning, RLHF, evaluation).
- Experience with model optimization (quantization, pruning, distillation) for on-device/edge systems
- Strong coding skills in Python with frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Familiarity with mobile LLM inference frameworks (LiteRT LM, Mediapipe LLM, llama.cpp, MLC LLM)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a results-oriented approach
Special Attributes:
- Proven expertise in enterprise AI agent design, including secure and context-aware automation
- Experience implementing on-device RAG pipelines for knowledge retrieval and augmentation
- Contributions to patents or publications in AI/NLP/ML (ACL, NeurIPS, ICLR, KDD, etc.)
- Experience integrating AI agents with enterprise systems and understanding security/compliance needs
- Familiarity with cloud + edge hybrid architectures
- Understanding of Android internals (Framework, OS, Security)
Base Pay Range
$132,500 - $182,150 USD
