Senior Payroll Tax Analyst

PlayStation offers a global hybrid office/remote working model — Flex Modes — which aims to combine the flexibility of remote working with the magic of in-person collaboration. Sony Interactive Entertainment is looking for a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst to support the payroll tax and reporting functions. You will join a team of professionals and contribute to making our payroll function efficient, accurate, and dedicated to employee experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance with payroll tax reporting and withholding in the US and Canada.
  • Develop audits to find payroll tax irregularities.
  • Prepare and reconcile estimated tax deposits.
  • Perform timely state and local tax registrations as needed.
  • Prepare year-end tax audits and reconciliations prior to W-2 processing.
  • Process, prepare, and validate W2c forms and ensure timely reporting.
  • Analyze, prepare, and enter wage adjustments when required, i.e., incorrect state or federal taxation, repayment of advances, etc.
  • Respond to employee tax inquiries from Nexus case management system.
  • Support financial and SOX audit requests.
  • Prepare payroll funding and reconciliation.
  • Create and maintain quarter end and year end checklists and documentation.
  • Liaison with 3rd Party Garnishment Processor to maintain compliance with garnishment requirements.

A successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of payroll and tax concepts with an understanding of payroll regulations and government reporting requirements in the US and Canada.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid attention to detail.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguous and complex work situations.
  • Ability to work in an organized manner with the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines handling multiple tasks while maintaining proper prioritization.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax implications of Section 125, 401k, RRSP, and other tax impacting benefit plans.
  • Capability to work independently and manage workload with autonomy.
  • Knowledge of Workday, SAP, ADP and Dayforce advantageous
  • Ability to work as part of a hybrid working team in multiple work locations.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years combined payroll tax and reporting experience.
  • Knowledge of large HCM/Payroll SaaS systems.
  • Prior experience with 3rd party tax preparer.
  • CPP preferred.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This is a flexible role that can be remote, with varying pay ranges based on geographic location. For example, if you are based out of Seattle, the estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$127,000 - $190,600 USD
