Role Overview

The Communications Specialist will report into the Senior Communications Manager (UK) and support storytelling and securing compelling earned coverage for the PlayStation brand within the UK market. Reporting into the Global Communications team and based in the London office, this individual will collaborate with the UK marketing team, playing a vital role in delivering local communications initiatives, and driving coverage around our games, hardware, and services.

This role combines campaign support, media relations, and press office responsibilities with a strong focus on measurable outcomes, local nuance, and cross-functional collaboration.

What You’ll Be Doing

Media Relations & Campaign Support

  • Deliver UK communications activity for the PlayStation brand and its products and services, including first-party titles, hardware, services (PS Plus, PS Store), and third-party partnerships.
  • Support the execution of UK PR plans for key campaigns, including media outreach and pitching, asset distribution, and press demo/event coordination.
  • Manage ongoing press office duties - responding to inbound enquiries, maintaining press lists, monitoring coverage and reporting.
  • Build and nurture relationships with a diverse range of top tier UK media contacts.
  • Draft and edit UK-tailored media materials.
  • Support event and preview planning, including identifying new creative press demo opportunities and coordinating logistics and travel.
  • Help ensure UK communications output aligns with and ladders into global messaging and objectives.
  • Collaborate with UK Campaign Marketing Managers to support owned and earned reach for global marketing campaign initiatives delivered locally.

Reporting & Collaboration

  • Track media coverage and assist in evaluating performance against key campaign KPIs.
  • Collaborate closely with the UK Influencer Manager to develop integrated UK comms activity that supports local and global goals.
  • Support the wider local marketing team on retailer or partner activity that may include press outreach or comms support.
  • Identify new media opportunities and keep internal stakeholders updated on shifts and trends in the UK media and cultural landscape.
  • Provide periodic support on larger Global Comms campaign initiatives, partnering closely with other members of the Global Comms team.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–3 years of experience in public relations, either in-house or agency side, preferably in consumer tech or entertainment sectors.
  • Solid experience working with UK media, with an understanding of different media types and how to tailor storytelling accordingly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience of working on impactful campaigns and managing several workstreams simultaneously.
  • Highly collaborative approach with the ability to work cross-functionally across teams locally and globally.
  • A proactive approach to planning, problem-solving and identifying PR opportunities.
  • Interest in gaming, entertainment, sports and wider culture with a desire to engage with our community through meaningful storytelling to reach new audiences.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Slack, Google Suite, and relevant comms tools (e.g. coverage trackers, media databases).
