Director, Marketing Planning & Operations 
San Mateo, CA (hybrid)

The Director, Marketing Planning and Operations is a strategic leader responsible for supporting the SVP of Marketing in driving alignment, integration, and transformation across the Global Marketing organization. This role provides stewardship over portfolio-wide marketing planning and operations, translating strategic direction into coordinated action and enabling marketing leaders and their teams to operate as a cohesive, high-impact engine for growth.

Operating at the intersection of marketing strategy, operations, and change leadership, this role ensures clarity of priorities, integration of plans, and disciplined execution in a fast-moving, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

Integrated Planning

  • Partner closely with the SVP of Marketing to align leadership direction with executable plans, roadmaps, and outcome measures that drive sustained business impact.
  • Provide leadership and stewardship over integrated planning across Global Marketing and product disciplines, ensuring alignment with SIE’s priorities and long-term growth objectives.
  • Maintain an enterprise-level portfolio view of initiatives, investments, and capacity, enabling thoughtful prioritization, informed trade-offs, and responsible resource allocation.
  • Ensure dependencies across functions, regions, and product teams are proactively identified, managed, and resolved in service of organizational effectiveness.
  • Balance global alignment with appropriate local and product-level flexibility, reinforcing a one SIE mindset while respecting market and portfolio needs.

Portfolio Strategy

  • Support the SVP of Marketing in shaping and reinforcing clear priorities, narratives, and expectations across the organization.
  • Maintain a deep, current understanding of Global Marketing capabilities, performance, and organizational health across all marketing disciplines.
  • Brings together performance data, dashboards, and KPIs across the marketing portfolio to determine how to set organizational-wide objectives to drive transformational growth.
  • Integrate financial discipline, ROI considerations, and long-term value creation into portfolio planning and leadership discussions.
  • Support the Marketing Leadership Team on select, high-impact strategic and operational priorities.

Business Management

  • Leader within Global Marketing forums, contributing perspective, rigor, and enterprise context to leadership discussions and decisions.
  • Design and lead quarterly in-person leadership engagements that strengthen alignment, collaboration, and shared accountability across the global leadership team.
  • Advance operational excellence by evolving planning rhythms, global marketing decision frameworks, and leadership governance.
  • Establish and sustain a disciplined operating cadence that reinforces accountability, follow-through, and continuous improvement.

Transformation & Change Leadership

  • Lead cross-marketing initiatives that drive operating transformation, including new ways of working, tools, and capabilities.
  • Champion change management efforts to ensure adoption, clarity, and sustained impact across teams.
  • Identify friction points in processes and workflows and design scalable solutions that improve speed, effectiveness, and collaboration.
  • Establish and manage the marketing organization’s operating rhythm (QBRs, leadership meetings, performance reviews, etc.).
  • Track progress against priorities, KPIs, and commitments.
  • Ensure clear governance, decision rights, and accountability across complex, matrixed teams.

What You Bring

  • 15+ years of experience in operations, strategy, and team leadership, ideally within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Proven success leading cross-functional and multi-functional teams through transformation and change.
  • Strong strategic and analytical capability, with the ability to bring structure, clarity, and focus to complex problem spaces and executive decision-making.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and align diverse perspectives.
  • Experience operating across multiple regions and broad portfolios.
  • Background in management consulting combined with experience as an operating leader is required. 
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree is required

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$234,300 - $351,500 USD
