Manager, UX Design Operations

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Manager to lead an impactful team of Design Program Managers dedicated to optimizing how our UX Design organization works. You will play a key role in optimizing our frameworks and workflows, championing innovative tools, and driving collaboration across teams. You will collaborate with leadership and cross-functional partners to provide clear guardrails while empowering teams to move quickly.

This role is both strategic and hands-on, you’ll directly manage a team and serve as a key advocate for the development and adoption of tools and processes that empower the broader design organization.

What You’ll Do

Be a collaborative catalyst: You will lead critical initiatives to optimize work management practices, cultivate an environment of tight-knit collaboration, and further shared understanding across teams, leadership, designers. You will be a multiplier who inspires and motivates others to do their best work.

A Subject Matter Expertise in Design: You will strategically drive both the process, and the work with designers, writers, and researchers. You will integrate complex workstreams - championing accessibility, integrating deeply with design systems, and ensuring design excellence through engineering handoffs and QA.

Connect the dots: A true systems thinker, you will always have a line of sight to the big picture, constantly connecting the dots and identifying the root causes of problems – not just treating the immediate symptoms.

Champion Design Ops Excellence: You will continuously refine operational processes, strengthen feedback and learning loops, lead the implementation of our long-term Design Operations strategy, and drive consistency across our embedded design operations practices.

A Trusted Partner: Teams you work with will see you as their reliable and trusted partner, acting as an advisor and as their design operations point of contact.

About You

You thrive at the intersection of design and process, and are passionate about building systems that improve how teams collaborate and create. You balance sophisticated problem-solving with operational execution and excel at empowering individuals to grow and succeed in their roles.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a people manager in a design team working on diverse projects
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate concepts and rationale clearly and persuasively to varied audiences
  • A shown history of fostering operational excellence, tooling implementation, and scaling efficient processes
  • An ability to collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and other collaborators to deliver effective solutions
  • An in-depth understanding of best-in-class design processes that deliver quality user experiences, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing areas for improvement

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$169,500 - $254,300 USD
