Sony Interactive Entertainment has an extraordinary opportunity in the Quality Engineering department! We are looking for a motivated and creative individual to help build test strategy and automation that drive quality across PlayStation® Link™ Firmware and Peripherals.

As a Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test, you’ll work hands-on with PlayStation® Link™ devices and develop test tools for embedded firmware. You'll collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to improve performance, stability, and reliability across the platform. We’re a team that values sharing knowledge, improving systems, and delivering thoughtful test coverage at scale.

Responsibilities:

We’re seeking an Sr. SDET to lead testing for PC/console applications — defining test strategy, driving automation, and ensuring high-quality, high-performance releases across platforms.

  • Own and drive the testing lifecycle for PC and console applications — including the creation of test strategy, test plans, test cases, and leading the effort to automate them end-to-end.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and fellow engineers to implement a shift-left testing strategy, ensuring automation is performed early at lower levels such as unit, integration, component, and API testing to provide faster feedback.
  • Work with developers to ensure complete feature and bug test coverage, enabling comprehensive validation through both manual and automated testing.
  • Design and implement libraries and tooling for automation frameworks that enhance test scalability, maintainability, and overall automation coverage across platforms.
  • Engage in cross-team initiatives for new and evolving features, driving alignment between PC, console, and cloud-based service teams.
  • Contribute to CI/CD platform setup and integration, collaborating with infrastructure teams to streamline continuous testing and delivery processes.
  • Maintain high standards of quality for both engineering and customer-facing features, focusing on performance, stability, and platform consistency across various builds.
  • Develop innovative solutions to organizational challenges such as optimizing PC test environments, reducing setup complexity, and improving test feedback loops.
  • Champion a customer-focused quality mindset, ensuring that PC and console experiences meet the highest expectations for usability, performance, and reliability.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical expertise and is eager to lead testing strategy and help scale quality practices across systems.

  • Demonstrated expertise in test planning and strategy, with a proven ability to design, create, and automate test cases, including unit and integration tests.
  • Experience in building and maintaining Appium/Selenium based automation frameworks.
  • Proficient in Python programming, along with software debugging expertise.
  • Deep technical understanding of test pipelines and all the backend testing capabilities within CICD pipeline. 
  • Practical experience using development and deployment tools: Git, Jenkins, Docker
  • Having a passion for automation with the ability to discuss the pros and cons of various automation approaches.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Interpersonal skills around collaboration with Product, Design, and Development teams.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication, with excellent presentation skills.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$183,000 - $274,600 USD
