The Opportunity

As a Software Engineer II on the Client Platform team, you’ll play a key role in building the next generation of PlayStation experiences. You’ll collaborate with talented engineers and designers to craft intuitive, performant, and beautiful cross-platform applications that reach millions of players around the world.  This team builds the core application framework, shared libraries, and foundational components that other product and feature teams rely on to deliver PlayStation experiences to millions of users worldwide. You’ll work with senior engineers to design and maintain the underlying systems that make PlayStation applications fast, scalable, and consistent across environments — giving other teams the tools and flexibility to innovate.  This is your chance to help shape how players connect, discover, and engage across the PlayStation ecosystem — from concept to launch and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and document React-based cross-platform applications that deliver seamless and consistent user experiences.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Product Managers to translate feature requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define architecture and ensure best practices for performance, accessibility, and reliability.

  • Write comprehensive unit and component tests to maintain product quality and prevent regressions.

  • Participate in peer reviews and provide constructive feedback on design and implementation.

  • Continuously improve development workflows and contribute to evolving engineering standards.

  • Explore innovative ideas and emerging technologies through Hackathons and Café Days to help drive future PlayStation experiences.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 2+ years of development experience building user-facing applications or systems using JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • Strong proficiency in React and related tools and libraries.

  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining cross-platform applications.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to quality.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a distributed team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with modern build and testing tools such as Webpack, Babel, Jest, or similar.

  • Familiarity with GraphQL, RESTful APIs, and containerization (e.g., Docker).

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.

  • Understanding of performance optimization, accessibility, and responsive design principles.

  • Interest or experience in applying AI/ML concepts to enhance user experiences — such as intelligent UI behaviors, personalization, recommendation systems, or automated testing tools.

  • Experience integrating or experimenting with AI-powered development tools, frameworks, or APIs (e.g., code assistants, generative models, or LLM-based automation).
