Artist & Label Publicity (Senior Associate)

Sony Music Middle East is the leading international label in the MENA region operating within the Arabic music space.

The label has signed and developed innovative projects with artists across the region.

The Music Marketing team handles, marketing, content development and publicity with the goal of expanding  awareness and engagement with our catalogue and frontline music in both Domestic and International releases in the Middle East.

This role is to work with the marketing teams to drive stories, features, news, social media content and editorial around our songs and artists.

You will also work closely with the managing director to create compelling narratives in regional media, that position the label and our team as thought leaders and leading music executives.

For this role, you will need to have a deep and broad understanding of the regional Media and Music landscape – in particular Egypt and Saudi - be hands on and show the capacity to build, and develop compelling media relations and networks for the company.

You will have a flair for stories, features and pitching to media, and share the team’s passion for company growth. Maintain a positive news cycle driving our narrative across digital for our artists, songs, catalogue and wider label activities in the region.

What you'll do:

  • Development of communications assets including digital releases, artist biogs, features and milestone news, internal global newsletter on relevant achievements/new releases and management of appropriate internal and external approvals.
  • Daily press and media relations and follows ups on news dissemination, servicing songs to key media and outlets ( Regional TV and Radio Stations ), secure and organize artist interviews around releases for domestic aswell as international priority releases.
  • Handle SME ME’s social media account, work on creative briefs, copywriting, and overall SME social media strategy on the different available channels.
  • Work with MD to develop meaningful media touchpoints to advance our narrative as the leading international label in the region, maximizing our achievements in media, press and digital news channels in addition to support the MD in key artist and partner relations.
  • Maintain an active and detailed internal database of cross media contacts, and compile a weekly news and stories highlights report for management and wider team.
  • In addition to core responsibilities you will have and nurture fantastic relationships with key regional and local mainstream, digital and niche music media editors and journalists. You will be the labels ‘go to’ for all press, media and publicity activities, maximizing visiting artist performances with regional media, and working with growing Gen-Z cultural commentators/ bloggers across Twitter/META to reach new consumers as the communications landcape becomes increasinbly disrupted by new media.
 

Who you are:

  • Previous Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years experience in a creative communications and regional media role.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications or media (ideally).
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written skills in English and Arabic.
  • Experience managing social media accounts and creating social media strategies.
  • Able to work independently across departments with proven ability to manage communications campaigns.
  • Professional in dealing with clients/artists, and able to respond to challenges constructively and patiently.
  • A compelling portfolio of communications work that demonstrates high quality creative writing, clever headlines and concepting experience.
  • Implement a combination of strategic, conceptual and copywriting skills.
