
Assistant Accountant, Merchandise (6-month contract, with possibility to extend)
Join our wonderful Finance team in Sydney as a Merchandise Accounting Assistant, supporting the fast-growing merchandise arm of our business – Ceremony of Roses. As demand increases for artist-branded merchandise to complement our Artist’s digital, CD, vinyl products - especially tour and E-commerce offerings - this role plays a key part in ensuring financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
Reporting to the Merchandise Accounting Manager, you’ll be instrumental in assisting the end-to-end financial deliverables and accounting entries related to our merchandise business. You will be responsible for preparing client-facing royalty statements on a quarterly basis and upon completion of artist tours. Once statements are approved, you will manage their distribution to clients and ensure timely follow-up for invoicing and payment settlement.

What you'll do:
• Assist in the end-to-end accounting and reporting for the Ceremony of Roses (COR) merchandise business.
• Assist preparation of artist accounting summaries/statements for online, tour, and pop up sales in accordance with contractual terms.
• Ensuring all royalty statements are delivered to artists in accordance with their contractual deadlines.
• Alongside the Finance team, helping to maintain an organised and up-to-date database of royalty statement schedules across all relevant channels.
• Collaborate with COR finance teams in the UK and US to ensure timely global consistency of Merch accounting.
• Accurately account for merchandise production, freight, and touring expenses.
• Performing analytical reviews to identify and investigate financial irregularities and seeing them through to resolution.
• Streamline accounting processes and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Code bank receipts using backup sales documentation.
• Process merchandise settlement invoices and ensure correct coding.
• Reclass journal entries in SAP to maintain accurate financial records.
• Liaise with COR teams to resolve artist-related merchandise queries.
• Assist in identifying and developing process efficiencies to expedite accurate and timely reporting.
• Assist in implementing new reporting, systems and accounting tools.
• Touring Profit Share Calculations.
• E-comm Quarterly Statements.
• Day to day financial operations.
Who you are:
• A degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
• Experience in merchandise royalty accounting and or music royalty accounting is also preferred.
• Solid understanding of accounts payable and receivable functions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with SAP (preferred).
• Profit Share, JV Accounting, P&L and/or royalty accounting experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.
• Detail-orientation with a passion for data analysis and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to effectively manage priorities during peak periods.
