About the Position
The BIM Modeler works out of Stansell Electric’s Nashville office, assisting in all aspects of delivering projects by providing detailed installation information to our field teams. The BIM Modeler must show strong math and analytical skills, experience with design software, and extreme attention to detail commensurate to the satisfactory completion of position’s primary duties and responsibilities. Advancement opportunities are available by advancing to more senior positions or through transfer to skilled trades.
How You’ll Make a Difference
- Assist project teams in delivering projects safely and successfully by providing detailed fabrication and installation information.
- Communicate with the project team (estimators, project managers, foremen) to accurately detail what/how the job needs to be built.
- Participate in project planning meetings to ensure vital project information is accurately communicated to project teams.
- Prepare detailed construction documents (2D & 3D) for fabrication in the pre-fab shop and for installation crews in the field.
- Create electrical and mechanical systems using construction modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD, Bluebeam).
- Create detailed 2D and 3D models of electrical and mechanical content.
- Organize and maintain existing drawing records.
- Ensure that projects are code compliant and meet various project specifications.
- Utilize construction layout and data collection devices and software to assist in project installation. (Trimble RTS and Scanner)
Smarts, Skills. And Physical
- Extensive experience with REVIT is a must.
- Strong math and computer skills.
- Experience in transportation information systems is a plus.
- Ability to work within a team to solve problems and accurately communicate the solution.
- Ability to communicate throughout all levels of the organization.
- Ability to read and review construction documents for multiple types of projects.
- Experience in the electrical field.
- Engineering degree preferred.
- Experience with field installation preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing is beneficial.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Must be very detailed oriented.
Education
- Minimum: 2 year or Technical Degree.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
*Relevant field experience is applicable in leu of educational requirements
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in a VDC/BIM related role.
