Job Description

As an Intelligence Intern on the Data Solutions team, you will play a crucial role in collecting and transforming data that underlines our technology and intelligence solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to forage for high-value data on the open web and to process data at scale to support Strider’s products, machine learning, and AI projects. We seek professionals with proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Russian, Farsi, Mandarin Chinese, or Japanese.

What you will do:

  • Use open-source intelligence skills to identify and evaluate high-value datasets across the open web, often in foreign languages.
  • Collaborate with engineers to collect, extract, and transform open-source data.
  • Perform checks, maintenance, and quality control on data pipelines.
  • Develop language models for threat detection.
  • Accurately label data and perform quality control of labeled data in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
  • Collaborate with members from the Global Intelligence Team to analyze intelligence and help provide actionable insights on the threat landscape.
  • Assist with projects to drive product development and automation.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver accurate and high-quality work.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and your language of expertise.
  • Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in Russian, Farsi, Mandarin Chinese, or Japanese.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with programming languages, data science tools, and quantitative methods is a significant advantage, though not mandatory.
  • Teamwork and Independence: Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in a relevant field, such as International Relations, Political Science, Security Studies, or International Economics; or in a quantitative field like Data Science or Computer Science.
  • Specialized Interests: A strong interest in threat intelligence, competitive intelligence, and risk analysis.
  • Analytical Experience: Experience in analyzing nation-state activities is highly valued.
  • Learning Agility: Willingness and ability to quickly learn new concepts and understand threat actor Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).

Why join this team:

  • We are geo-distributed and deeply respect-focused work. Wednesdays are distraction-free days and Fridays tend to be the same. Getting work done matters, not meetings and status updates.
  • Most of the data and tools we need to succeed likely don’t exist yet. You are empowered to dream big, think outside the box, and generally explore new territory.
  • You’ll get daily interactions with all functions and levels of Strider, providing endless opportunities to advance your career.
  • And finally, we revel in learning new things, be it technical languages, spoken languages, or other topics. There is infinite space at Strider to pursue your interests to further yourself, the team, or Strider as a whole.
