Job Title: Protestant Music Director – Musician

Job Location: Holloman AFB, NM

Scope of Work:

Leads and supports the Protestant music program for the Holloman Air Force Base Chapel. The position provides instrumental accompaniment, directs singers and musicians, prepares worship music and presentation materials, and coordinates with the Protestant Chaplain to support worship services and seasonal programs.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Protestant music program and provide instrumental accompaniment for worship services.
• Lead congregational songs and hymns and direct the choir or praise team during worship services.
• Recruit, mentor, schedule, and coordinate choir members and musicians and encourage participation in the music ministry.
• Plan and direct weekly rehearsals and additional rehearsals for special services or seasonal programs when needed.
• Coordinate music selections with the Protestant Chaplain and use chapel-provided CCLI resources and hymnals.
• Prepare weekly PowerPoint slides by the Thursday preceding the Sunday service in accordance with licensing requirements.
• Arrive at least 30 minutes before worship services to review the order of worship, conduct warm-up, complete sound checks, and address musical needs.
• Prepare music for Christmas, Easter, memorial, and other special or seasonal services as directed.
• Safeguard, maintain, stow, and account for Government-owned music and sound equipment and promptly report damage or loss.
• Coordinate facility, equipment, and support requests within established lead times and maintain the security, cleanliness, and religious neutrality of used facilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or five years of experience in Christian church music ministry, or related academic credentials. 
• Ability to read sheet music applicable to the instrument performed. Approved lead instruments are piano and guitar. 
• Successful audition demonstrating sight-reading and prepared performance appropriate to the Protestant tradition. 
• References validating favorable past performance. 
• Fluent English and the ability to function in an interfaith, pluralistic environment. 
• Knowledge of, and ability to comply with, applicable Department of the Air Force 52-series instructions and 49th Wing Chapel Operating Instructions. 
• Ability to complete installation background-check, fingerprinting, identity-management, and CAC-access requirements, as applicable.
• Ability to complete required Information Assurance Awareness and Total Force Awareness training.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

• Work is primarily performed at the Holloman AFB Chapel and associated program locations.
• Schedule includes Sunday services, weekday planning and religious studies, meetings, and occasional Holy Season or special-event hours.
• Must be able to arrive before scheduled classes or events, remain through completion, and support facility cleanup.
