
Lead MLOps Engineer (Agentic & Microservice Platforms)
Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a hands-on, technically advanced Lead MLOps Engineer to support and extend the operational backbone of our next-generation Agentic AI platform. This individual will bridge intelligent automation with traditional DevOps excellence by managing hybrid pipelines that span both agentic execution and our existing Java-based microservice ecosystem.
The Lead MLOps Engineer will own and evolve the tooling and infrastructure that ensures system resilience, continuous deployment, and high availability of autonomous AI workflows. This role requires deep technical expertise in software delivery, system diagnostics, and infrastructure automation, while also providing architectural guidance and hands-on leadership to a global operations team.
LOCATION:
- Based in Research Triangle Park, NC (hybrid remote)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and build intelligent CI/CD pipelines that are self-monitoring, self-healing, and capable of detecting, reporting, and recovering from agentic and service-level failures.
- Lead creation and orchestration of AI agents that drive automation within build, test, and release workflows across both agentic and traditional service platforms.
- Monitor real-time agentic execution in production and staging environments, integrating telemetry, log analysis, and recovery automation.
- Extend and maintain support for existing Java microservice deployment pipelines, ensuring backward compatibility and quality across Maven/Jenkins/NPM/Yarn/Nx-based services.
- Collaborate with AI, DevOps, and Engineering teams to ensure scalable integration of AI-driven features into mainstream release management.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance to a global ops team, acting as SME for performance diagnostics, CI/CD failures, dependency management, and service orchestration.
- Ensure high availability and recovery readiness for both agentic and traditional pipelines through chaos testing, observability enhancements, and runbook automation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps, MLOps, or platform engineering roles.
- Strong experience building CI/CD pipelines using Maven, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, NPM, Yarn, Nx.
- Deep understanding of Java microservice architecture, including versioning, testing, and deployment.
- Proficient in Azure DevOps, including monitoring, alerts, and log-based diagnostics.
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, and cloud-native operational models.
- Excellent troubleshooting, performance tuning, and infrastructure debugging skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor globally distributed technical teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience integrating AI/ML pipelines with operational infrastructure.
- Experience building and maintaining agentic automation, including workflow orchestration and recovery agents.
- Exposure to LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or other agentic frameworks.
- Familiarity with chaos engineering or site reliability best practices.
- Background in retail software platforms or mission-critical service environments.
