Purpose of the Position:

The Financial Analyst, FP&A must have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to remain organized while working in a dynamic fast paced work environment. This role will provide broad support to senior finance team members, including; ad hoc data analysis, query research, financial modeling and preparation and distribution of periodic financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders, etc.

Key Responsibilities: 

Monthly Reporting & Close Support

  • Exposure to financial leadership by managing monthly reporting decks around actuals vs plan, adding written commentary to key variances.
  • Create and distribute financial reports, variance analyses and metric reporting to business leads.
  • Analyze financial data and performance metrics to identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform GL ledger review to identify coding inaccuracies and accrual
  • Support procurement team with coding alignment issues, expenditure forecasting, and transactional approval as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to develop and implement continuous improvement processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Financial Forecasting & Budgeting

  • Support budgeting and ongoing/long term forecast processes by acting as a finance partner across the business to align financial plans and document key changes.
  • Create and manage internal models to improve forecast assumptions and
  • Conduct ad-hoc scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate the financial impact of various business decisions and strategies.

Ad-Hoc Support

  • Complete various ad-hoc requests to support the leadership team and key business partners.
  • Support may include advanced excel modeling for scenario analysis, building new reporting packages, improving the Anaplan experience, process documentation, etc.

Support Institutional Initiatives

  • Keeps current with institutional goals, objectives, and progress.
  • Engages in institutional sponsored activities and initiatives as appropriate.
  • Leads with courage in support of change initiatives that impact organization.
  • Assists in coordinating efforts between departments within UMA.

Compliance

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/economics (required).
  • 1-3 years in financial planning & analysis, or related corporate finance/accounting field (preferred).
  • Demonstrated critical problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail (required).
  • Strong knowledge of Excel including advanced functions, excellent formatting and presentation skills (required).
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into snapshots appropriate for senior management use (preferred).
  • Good communication skills, specifically an ability/willingness to communicate effectively with senior management (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems (required), prior experience using Anaplan (or other FP&A software), Great Plains, Management Reporter, Emburse, UltiPro, Marketplace or PowerBI (preferred).
  • Able to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Able to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Positive attitude, highly motivated, team player (required).
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed (required).

Working Environment:

  • Fully remote role with only occasional, planned onsite or travel requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Requires long periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.
  • Requires ability to travel.

Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.

Compensation Range

$65,000 - $75,000 USD
