We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Order team at Wolt and help us in creating the new global e-commerce platform that will power the combined footprint of the entire company.

Our mission is to design, build, and expand the core building blocks of ordering, such as Cart, Order Tracking, and Order Submission. The scope of the team is exciting as the components will be designed to be usable by feature teams across all DoorDash companies, including Wolt and Deliveroo. 

What you’ll be doing

As a Backend Engineer in the Order team, you’ll work on the very core of Wolt’s platform — the systems that power every order made by millions of customers. You’ll build and enhance Go-based backend services that drive Wolt’s order experience, enabling new functionality and ensuring reliability at scale.

As we are in the process of migrating from our existing infrastructure, you might find yourself working on this stack as well. But worry not, you will have experts around you who will be more than happy to assist you.

You’ll work closely with fellow engineers as we balance rapid growth with engineering excellence. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment that values learning, shared ownership, and building things the right way.

Day-to-day in this role you’ll:

  • Understand what we’re building and why — contributing to features that impact millions of users worldwide.
  • Collaborate with more experienced engineers to design and implement backend systems.
  • Ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks and contribute to team releases.
  • Bring ideas to the table and participate in architectural discussions.
  • Learn continuously and grow your technical and product understanding.
  • Help improve observability, telemetry, and overall system reliability.

Our humble expectations

  • Some experience (professional or personal) building backend applications.
  • A strong desire to learn and grow as a Go developer.
  • Familiarity with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing (unit, integration, e2e).
  • A proactive attitude toward problem-solving and working in a team.
  • Ability to follow through on project plans and deliver quality code on schedule.
  • Interest in designing scalable systems and contributing to architecture decisions over time.
  • Curiosity about how backend systems shape the overall customer experience.
  • An open mind and interest in learning how to best leverage AI tooling to make you go even faster.

We value developers who take ownership, write testable and maintainable code, and enjoy collaborating across teams. You should be comfortable navigating both greenfield and existing systems and balancing scalability with delivering customer value.
