Role Summary and Impact

We have an exciting opportunity to join our newly evolved Global Growth team at WPP Media.

You'll be part of a small, formidable unit - three strategists and a Choreograph product specialist who turn data into stories that win pitches. Small enough to move fast, experienced enough to think big, diverse enough to see around corners.

As Global Growth Strategy & Insights Lead, you won't just analyse data, you'll find the truth inside it. The insight that makes a CEO lean forward. The connection everyone else missed. You'll craft narratives from multiple data sources that make the complex suddenly clear, and the impossible suddenly obvious.

This is about more than winning pitches. It's about changing how prospective clients see their own business.

Responsibilities

You will be a seasoned analyst and strategist with significant experience translating complex data into boardroom-ready insights. Your success will depend on your ability to uncover hidden truths in data and craft narratives that reshape how brands think about their business. Core responsibilities include :

Strategic Insight Development:

  • Lead analytical development on multi-market pitches, sourcing and synthesizing data from multiple conventional and unconventional sources
  • Create the strategic red thread that anchors pitch narratives, connecting data points into compelling stories that demonstrate deep market understanding
  • Transform complex analyses into clear, actionable insights that can be understood and acted upon at C-suite level
  • Challenge pitch teams with provocative insights that reveal opportunities competitors might miss
  • Make intelligent assumptions and projections when complete data isn't available, clearly articulating reasoning and confidence levels

 

Data Excellence:

  • Pioneer creative approaches to combining disparate data sources - from consumer behaviour to cultural trends to macroeconomic indicators
  • Build robust analytical frameworks that can be replicated across pitches while maintaining flexibility for unique client challenges
  • Partner with Choreograph and data teams to access and leverage WPP's full data ecosystem including WPP Open capabilities
  • Identify gaps in our data partnerships and proactively source new data streams in anticipation of pitch needs
  • Develop methodologies for rapid insight generation under pitch timelines

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Brief and guide market teams on analytical approaches and insight development
  • Partner with agency brand strategic leadership to ensure insights inform creative and media strategies
  • Work closely with product teams to understand platform capabilities and how they enhance our analytical offerings
  • Collaborate with the DTT Growth Lead on commissioned research and data development requests
  • Build productive relationships across WPP operating companies to access diverse data and insights

Knowledge Management & Excellence:

  • Create frameworks for insight development that can be scaled across the growth community
  • Maintain repository of timeless insights, analytical approaches and data sources for pitch teams
  • Host analytical excellence sessions to upskill growth teams on data storytelling
  • Support continuous evolution of the WPP Media STRONGEST playbook with latest analytical methodologies
  • Document and share breakthrough insights that changed pitch outcomes

 

Strategic Development:

  • Produce detailed analytical briefs that guide commissioned research and data partnerships
  • Support wider marketing team on thought leadership rooted in data-driven insights
  • Help refine group and agency propositions with insights that differentiate our offering
  • Anticipate future client needs by analysing market trends and emerging data sources

In the first 100 days, you would have:

  • Developed deep understanding of WPP Open, DPAM products and all WPP Media technology capabilities
  • Established strong working relationships with Choreograph product teams and key stakeholders
  • Conducted comprehensive audit of available data sources across WPP ecosystem and external partners
  • Developed signature approach to insight generation that combines multiple data streams
  • Delivered game-changing insights for at least two active pitches
  • Established relationships with key data partners and identified new partnership opportunities
  • Created framework for rapid insight development under pitch conditions

 

In the first year, you would have:

  • Built comprehensive library of analytical frameworks and methodologies for pitch teams
  • Credited with insights that directly contributed to winning major multi-market clients
  • Established new data partnerships that enhanced our analytical capabilities
  • Created analytical training program adopted across growth community
  • Developed reputation as the go-to person for challenging analytical briefs
  • Successfully contributed towards WPP Media annual new business targets and COMvergence rankings

Ongoing, you will:

  • Continue to push boundaries of what possible with data driven storytelling
  • Maintain WPP Media’s position as the industry leader in strategic insights
  • Build repeatable system of data sources and analytical approaches that create sustainable competitive advantage

  • A senior analyst/strategist with proven track record of translating data into business-changing insights
  • Deep experience working with multiple data sources - quantitative, qualitative, behavioural, cultural, financial
  • Demonstrated ability to influence C-suite decision making through compelling data narratives
  • Track record of developing insights that challenged conventional wisdom and opened new strategic directions
  • Excellence in data visualization and storytelling - making complex simple without losing nuance
  • Experience making intelligent projections and assumptions when working with incomplete data
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, research methodologies and data quality assessment
  • Knowledge of emerging data sources and analytical techniques including AI/ML applications
  • Experience in high-pressure pitch environments with ability to generate insights at pace
  • Proven ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups and geographies
  • Understanding of global markets with appreciation for local nuances within international frameworks
  • Curiosity and creativity in approaching analytical challenges
