Lead Composite Structural Technician
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What You’ll Do:
- Perform hands-on repairs and maintenance on composite structures for aircraft, including damage assessment and repair planning.
- Fabricate, repair, and assemble complex composite components and structures according to engineering specifications and industry standards.
- Utilize advanced composite repair techniques, such as scarfing, bonding, and patch repairs.
- Operate and maintain composite tools and equipment, such as vacuum bagging systems, autoclaves, and ovens, ensuring proper material processing.
- Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspections of composite parts to assess damage, identify defects, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and repair manuals to execute precise composite repairs.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical issues related to composite structures and recommend solutions to improve performance and reliability.
- Follow strict safety protocols while handling hazardous materials and working in confined spaces.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and part replacement logs.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in composite materials and repair technologies to apply the latest techniques.
What You Need:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in composite repair and fabrication, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- High school diploma or GED; additional certifications in composite repair or aerospace standards preferred.
- Strong knowledge of composite materials, resins, and bonding agents used in aviation.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and composite repair equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering instructions, and FAA guidelines.
- Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods specific to composite structures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across various teams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with shifting priorities.
- Physical ability to lift 10-35 pounds, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks that may expose you to hazardous materials.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with FAA aircraft certification requirements, including Part 23 certification.
- Advanced certifications in composite repair techniques or NDT methods.
- Knowledge of sustainable practices in composite manufacturing.
- New product development experience in composite structures for aviation.
- Completion of advanced training in composite manufacturing and repair techniques.

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
