Capacity Analyst Intern

About the role

Astera Labs is seeking a Capacity Analyst Intern to support planning and supply-chain operations in a cross-functional manufacturing environment. This role will help turn forecasts, customer demand, inventory, work-in-progress, supplier commitments, and factory capacity into clear plans and actionable updates for the teams responsible for delivering products.

What you’ll do

• Analyze capacity and supply across manufacturing, supplier, and internal planning activities using forecasts, customer demand, order backlog, work-in-progress, finished-goods inventory, material availability, and supplier or factory commitments.

• Maintain and improve planning reports and data; reconcile information across backlog, inventory, and ERP records and identify gaps or discrepancies.

• Support production planning and scheduling for customer orders, manufacturing starts, builds, and shipments, including communicating estimated ship dates and material-status updates.

• Partner with Supply Chain, Sales Operations, Hardware Engineering and NPI, Product Marketing, Finance, warehouses, contract manufacturers, and suppliers to align plans and resolve constraints.

• Evaluate capacity and supply risks related to lead times, yields, throughput, raw-material availability, finished-goods coverage, and factory commitments; surface risks and support mitigation plans.

• Support build-plan reviews for new-product introduction and high-volume manufacturing, including transitions between planning stages.

• Track actions, decisions, and changes to planning assumptions, and maintain documentation that supports accurate reporting and operational follow-through.

• Contribute to process improvements that make capacity, inventory, and supply information more timely, consistent, and useful for decision-making.

What you bring

• Currently enrolled in a degree program in supply chain, industrial engineering, operations, business, analytics, or a related field.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work carefully with structured data and identify trends, gaps, and constraints.

• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through when managing multiple priorities and changing information.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills and an ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Comfort working with spreadsheets, operational reports, and business systems; exposure to ERP or supply-chain planning systems is helpful.

• Interest in manufacturing, capacity planning, forecasting, inventory, and supply-chain operations.

• Ability to learn new processes quickly and communicate recommendations in a concise, actionable way.

Helpful experience

• Coursework or projects involving forecasting, inventory management, capacity planning, production planning, operations research, or data analysis.

• Experience working with manufacturing, supplier, or fulfillment data.

• Experience presenting analysis, documenting processes, or coordinating work across multiple teams.

Internship experience and compensation

This is a paid, hourly U.S. internship. The applicable hourly rate is determined as part of the offer process and specified in the offer letter, depending on education level ranges form $35/hour to $55/hour. U.S. interns currently receive a $500-per-week housing/relocation stipend for the duration of the internship. Interns participate in Early Career programming, including technical and professional-development sessions, community events, and an end-of-program project presentation.
