About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Sr. Cloud FinOps Specialist to join our team. This role focuses on managing and optimizing cloud costs across Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of cloud services and cost structures, coupled with a proven track record of developing innovative strategies to optimize and reduce cloud expenditures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor cloud costs and usage across Azure, AWS, and GCP, providing actionable insights and cost transparency to stakeholders.
- Continuously analyze cloud spending to identify areas for cost optimization, savings opportunities, and improved financial efficiency.
- Lead efforts to optimize multi-million-dollar cloud expenditures, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining operational excellence.
- Implement best practices for cloud financial management and establish a robust FinOps framework to manage cloud spending effectively.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to design scalable and cost-effective cloud architectures.
- Stay informed on the latest cloud pricing models, service updates, and tools for cost optimization across cloud providers.
- Develop and implement strategies for resource optimization, such as rightsizing, instance scheduling, and reserved instance management.
- Provide detailed reporting on cloud usage and financial performance to internal stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Conduct regular cloud cost audits to identify and eliminate unused or underutilized resources, enhancing efficiency.
- Negotiate pricing and contract terms with cloud vendors to maximize cost savings.
- Ensure cloud infrastructure remains aligned with budget constraints and financial forecasts.
Experience:
- 8+ years in cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on cost management and FinOps.
- Proven success in optimizing multi-million-dollar cloud expenditures.
- Prior experience as a cloud solutions architect is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience implementing cost control measures and optimization strategies.
- Cloud Expertise:
- Deep understanding of Azure, AWS, and GCP services, pricing models, and cost management tools.
- Proficiency in cloud financial management tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, Google Cloud Billing, or third-party FinOps solutions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cloud pricing models, including pay-as-you-go, reserved instances, savings plans, and spot pricing.
Skills:
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with cross-functional teams.
Certifications:
- FinOps Certification or relevant cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, GCP) are a plus.
Additional Expertise:
- Experience with multi-cloud disaster recovery, failover strategies, and app/service integration across platforms.
- Skilled in building vendor-agnostic systems to ensure flexibility.
- Strong focus on cost governance and compliance.
