Senior Software Engineer, Compliance

Why Box needs you:

Box GxP is our compliance product offering for Life Science customers, which serves as a rolling evidence that Box functionality is working continuously as intended. Box supports GxP customers by offering: (1) cross-team validation testing orchestration and customer-facing dashboard reporting; (2) quarterly Controlled release management for Box feature deployment to GxP Sandbox environments. We are currently at the stage of re-implementing the test results processing and orchestration framework to address existing gaps and limitations. As a team, we support existing GxP processes from engineering perspective, helping other engineering teams to stay compliant, provide tools to the engineering teams so that they can manage their GxP tests on a self-service basis.

What you'll do:

  • Build new version of GxP offering from the ground up

  • Design and build highly scalable, cloud-native microservices in Java or JavaScript

  • Collaborate across teams to integrate services seamlessly, ensuring our architecture is both powerful and efficient

  • Write/review high-quality, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code

  • Team up with other talented engineers to foster solid engineering principles and represent our engineering values

  • Partner with product to scope new features, provide project estimates and milestones to inform quarterly commitments

 

What you will bring:

  • 5+ years in software development, proficient in Java, Scala, JavaScript, or similar languages

  • Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OOP

  • Experience building and operating cloud microservices, preferably in a container environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset

  • A passion for clean code, automated testing, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD)

  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • You are a quick learner and able to jump into diverse technology stack

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with GCP services.

  • Experience with containerization (Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience with observability tools (e.g. Splunk, Chronosphere, Google Cloud Logging)

  • Knowledge of React or other modern frontend frameworks

  • Background with distributed systems

Percentage of time spent: 

  • 60% coding

  • 10% technical design and documentation

  • 10% feature refinements

  • 10% operational tasks and on-call duties

  • 10% collaboration

Methodology:
Our tech stack offers a diverse and challenging environment, including GCP, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Jira, and more. We use modern Observability and Distributed Tracing stack (Google Cloud logging, Chronosphere, SignalFX). To make your work easier your will have access to IntelliJ Ultimate and Copilot Business.
