WHY BOX NEEDS YOU
The Offensive Security Team Manager will lead the adversarial services function within the Security Operations Team. This role leads a technical team charged to execute various operations of different complexities and lengths to test security architecture, security tools, configurations and Incident response. This role will also be expected to partner closely with other security, technical and operational teams. This role will have the opportunity to collaborate across Box as a whole, providing expertise and leadership to executives, product, architecture and operational teams.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

Research, develop, and apply offensive tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP’s) to effectively mimic the capabilities of relevant threat actors

Partner with Global Security Office Teams and other stakeholders in the organization to identify security posture improvements

Collaborate with the Threat Operations Team (Threat Intelligence & Detection Engineering) on threat analysis and research

Collaborate with the Incident Response Team to ensure red team findings are incorporated into incident detection and response strategies.

Partner in Purple Team activities, validating telemetry & detection and surfacing any gaps

Present complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences, with focus on expressing security risks in business terms to a business skilled audience

Partner with Engineering and Architecture Teams, driving and advocating for remediation of operation findings

Lead and manage offensive security staff, including hiring, performance management, career development, and retention

Maintain Team documentation, processes, resources, tools and findings.

Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of offensive security efforts, demonstrating quantifiable impact on risk reduction.

Manage External Pen Test Partner
WHO YOU ARE
-
Minimum four (4) years of experience leading technical red team/offensive security function, 8 years overall technical experience
-
Demonstrated experience in maturing and elevating offensive security function capabilities
-
Demonstrated experience presenting to stakeholders of different technical levels, including executive staff and technical teams.

Demonstrated experience of developing and executing successful roadmaps, achieving the goals and objectives that drive overall risk reduction
-
Project management, cross-team coordination and driving organizational change
-
Demonstrated technical experience in several of the following areas:
-
Cloud, network, mobile, web and host penetration testing/assessments
-
Strong understanding of Linux, Mac OS, Windows and kubernetes internals
-
Email, phone, or physical social-engineering assessments
-
Developing, extending, or modifying exploits, shellcode or exploit tools
-
Source code review for control flow and security flaws
-
Bypassing preventative and detective security controls to accomplish operational goals
-
Strong knowledge of tools used for wireless, web application, and network security testing
Skills
-
High level of proficiency of Linux/Mac/Windows operating systems
-
High level understanding of Cloud Environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc)
-
In-depth knowledge of cloud-native security tools and architectures (e.g., Kubernetes security, microservices, serverless environments).

Detailed understanding of the TCP/IP networking stack, network technologies and covert channels
-
Nominal understanding of regular expression and proficient in programming (.NET, C/C++) and scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Java, or Python)

Familiarity with common C2 frameworks such as Cobalt Strike, Mythic, and Metasploit
-
Familiarity with common offensive security tools (burp, Kali, cloud attack scripts; ie S3scanner, Pacu, etc)
-
Strong collaborative skills and proven ability to work in a diverse global team of security professionals

Strong organizational skills and mentoring
-
Polished presentation skills, to include capabilities at technical, executive, and board levels with strong focus on business impact of security findings

Strong verbal and written skills
