508 Compliance SME
- Tests programs, processes, and systems to measure the accessibility and Section 508 compliance of products and services for both systems, automation, documents, and websites.
- Assists with writing basic test procedures and protocols to assess product accessibility and evaluates the ability of products to meet Section 508 standards and specifications
- Gathers basic test data and evaluates the results of tests to determine if product designs and architecture meets specifications and performance expectations
- May collaborate with other teams to improve or upgrade accessibility features and/or product performance; typically provides remediation POAMs.
- Provide technical assistance and remediation guidance to team members
- Document testing methodologies and write accessibility compliance reports
- Recommend potential solutions by evaluating new and emerging assistive technologies that support reasonable accommodations designed to increase accessibility
- Deliver accessibility training and seminars as needed for the project
- Maintains current knowledge of Section 508, its amendments, updates, and industry best practices for IT
- Clearance:
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Education/Certification:
- Bachelors degree or prior, relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Understanding of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

Current DHS 508 Trusted Tester Certification: Section 508 Testing | Homeland Security (dhs.gov)
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience
- Experience specialized in accessibility and conducting Section 508 compliance audits
- Experience providing high-level architectural expertise to managers and technical staff
- Experience producing quality documentation
- Experience working with Federal government clients
- Preferred Skills:
- Cyber Security knowledge and experience a plus
- Cloud knowledge and experience a plus
- Platform and data migration knowledge and experience a plus
- SharePoint knowledge and experience a plus
