Construction Permit Coordinator
Copper River Technologies is seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Permit Coordinator to join our team supporting the Pentagon Building Management Office’s (PBMO) Special Events Office (SEO). The SEO is responsible for permitting use of space for ceremonies and events, construction and laydown, cable pulls, parades, and any other use of public space on the Pentagon Reservation. Events supported range from a junior enlisted promotion ceremony to White House attended, media covered, and widely attended ceremonies such as Rolling Thunder to presidential inauguration activities and Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff hosted events.
The SEC ensures events and activities are scheduled and coordinated through all appropriate agencies to ensure no overlap or conflicts of events with scheduled maintenance or construction activities. Execution requires hands‐on support with the primary focus for this position is on processing construction permits within a prescribed timeline in accordance with current policies and procedures.
Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to):
- Support the Special Events government staff by processing permits. Permits are requests from tenants to hold special events and/or perform construction activities on the Pentagon Reservation in accordance policy. Duties include and are not limited to the following scope:
- Comply with internal procedures for processing permits.
- Check for new permits/applications throughout the day.
- Review each application for completeness and compliance for the permit type.
- Update the Outlook calendar, Microsoft Access and other software/databases used to track the permit process.
- Route the permit/application for approval through the Special Events Office’s routing software and or via email or in person with reviewers as necessary.
- Throughout the permit routing chain, the document may be returned to the Special Events Office for re‐routing due to modification or update of the original submittal.
- Coordinate and verify set‐ups / breakdowns of events and permitted storage areas with various Pentagon agency offices and personnel.
- Additional duties include cross training with the Pentagon Customer Assistance Center (PCAC) Customer Service Specialists (CSS) to support customer information requests.
- Supporting the PCAC desk when staffing requirements are needed.
Requirements:
- Education: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a field similar to public affairs, communication, business administration, hospitality or other customer service focused area.
- Certification: Must have one of the following certifications:
- Certified Special Event Professional;
- Certified Meeting Professional;
- Certified Meeting Planner Program, or
- undergoing concierge training
- Required Knowledge/Experience:
- Must have familiarity with and understanding of basic construction terminology and ability to read and comprehend drawings and blueprints.
- Must have at least one year experience in providing similar customer service and experience in construction/ project management for organization(s) of a similar importance and stature as the Department of Defense.
- Ability to navigate the Pentagon Reservation within 60 days.
- Familiar with the rank and precedence of the military services, DoD senior executive service and other government agencies.
- Must possess intermediate to advanced experience in the Microsoft Office Suite, which includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
- Must be able to independently create, enter, save, retrieve, edit, copy, paste, file and present text, presentations, and spreadsheets.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract.
