Boiler Plant Equipment Mechanic
Copper River Technologies is seeking a skilled Boiler Plant Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in maintaining and repairing power boilers, heating systems, and associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment. This position requires technical proficiency, attention to safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
This position will be onsite at PWD Newport, RI.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Plan and execute work based on blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex problems in heating boilers, heating systems, and fuel power boilers.
- Install, modify, overhaul, repair, and maintain various heating boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and longevity.
- Use and maintain tools, equipment, and test instruments effectively.
- Adhere to safety practices and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Train and guide lower-grade employees as required.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Knowledge of:
- Mechanical, electromechanical, and pneumatic principles for inspecting, installing, testing, and repairing boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Safety regulations, maintenance procedures, and documentation policies.
Skills in:
- Dismantling, repairing, and reassembling pumps and related equipment.
- Troubleshooting complex mechanical problems and applying prescribed testing methods.
- Using hand tools, power tools, and various test equipment effectively.
Abilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Maintain precision in balancing, aligning, and repairing mechanical systems.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Males must be registered for Selective Service (www.sss.gov).
- Subject to the DoD Priority Placement Program provisions.
- Must disclose political appointments.
- May require shift work, emergency overtime, and non-standard duty hours (evenings, weekends, holidays).
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
- May be required to drive a motor vehicle.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position involves:
- Work in varying environments, including exposure to mechanical hazards and high temperatures.
- Physical exertion such as climbing, lifting heavy objects, and extended periods of standing.
